There were a few flags called on OL that were questionable.
We have to continue to improve running game. Diggs looks good.

Idk what game you guys are watching. First of all I love the nastiness in an OL and DL. The only penalty that really hurt us was the false start on the first drive so yeah clean that up but the personal fouls, I can deal with that shite.
This is LSU and we not going to allow a team to just take shots on us all game long. They need to start setting the tone on both lines of scrimmage, flag or no flag. Get nasty and dirty! Throw MFrs around. The run game was fine with the right players in the game. Give the ball more to Diggs and the two freshman backs. Those guys are truly LSU RBs. Maybe Cain on short yardage plays. But we really don’t need them and I don’t see much effort from the rest of the guys.
What our fans don’t get is that football is a progressive game. You don’t come out a finished product in the first 2-3 games. It progresses into a finished product by years end. We will improve every week. JD and Neighbors was playing with MSU today. They weren’t even trying. We have a very talented team and this is a progressive type of game.
The defense made some changes and it’s exactly what I said they should do just yesterday. Play the 4-3 defense with Harris and Alexander outside, Sam, Burns, Chestnut and Brooks on the inside. Have Welch, Stamps, Toviano, and Yaites rotating in at times. Perkins roaming, Penn/Speights and Weeks on the inside. You keep Jones, Smith, Wingo on the field for 70-80% of snaps and rotate the rush position for the hot hand. With Perkins on the field it eases some of the pressure needed from a rush end. So you can basically play gap control against the run with the other DLman and let Perkins put the pressure. Rush the QB when he’s forced into your area. You blitz from different positions when needed. Sage Ryan needs to stay on STs. He’s just not physical enough.
We can put crazy pressure on the QB with just Jones, Smith, Wingo and Perkins! They get heavy you add another inside DLman or a rush end. You have the advantage with that personnel. It keeps 4 rushing the passer, you’re heavy enough with the 2 extra LBers and you still have the DBs to cover the passing game. They spread you out and you can either leave Perkins in coverage, replace Penn with one of the DBs mentioned, or you can blitz if you want to put pressure.
This personnel allows you to do a multitude of things without replacing any player or just one player at most. You can send pressure from anywhere and still have good coverage. They did this today and this is the right defense going forward. Now they just need to add little wrinkles every week.
Perkins is great at rushing the passer, coverage and tackling in space. Weeks is good at blitzing, tackling in space and coverage. Penn is a great tackle, can take on blocks and is decent in coverage. Brooks is great blitzing, covering the slot and tackling in space. Chestnut is also similar but has a little more awareness than Brooks. Harris is a great cover guy on the outside as is Alexander and Stamps. Decent tackler also. Burns, Sam, Toviano and Yeights is good over the top and tackling. I’d maybe try Welch back there as well. But you just rotate these guys on the outside and inside based on matchups or what’s needed that day, that down etc. I think House has it mostly figured out. Now they just need to tweak things and add more coverages/blitzes to the D. Especially first down, 3rd down and apparently 4th down with different personnel.

This entire team looked like we hoped

How many sacks do you give up for the offensive line to have a good game. There were more sacks than incompletions.

It worked very well today, but it may be harder to stick with a 4-3 without a Nickel against some of the teams we play.

Not sure Markway made a block all day
He needs to start ducking hitting! I am tough on him but he has the talent and size. Once he gets it, he will be a bad man

LSU’s Oline. This is what LSU fans expected.
You are talking to the wrong bunch here. These are the same people who trashed the 2019 OL even after they won the Joe Moore trophy and got drafted...
