I'll be looking for some guys to emerge as new stars against Michigan & Notre Dame for the pre-SEC, pre-St.Patty's weekend.

Yep. Mainieri is still trying to figure out which buttons to push at this point. I hope he figures it out early this year because last year he did not until too late.

That's gonna be the start of a brutal stretch. 7 games in 9 days.

I really didn't expect to see Slaid & Snikeris playing this season.

Slaid raked in summer ball and was reportedly the best hitter in the fall.

He started hot but had a bad weekend this past weekend. Not sure what he will amount to, but that is why he is playing.

Snikeris has 5 ABs. He hasnt started since the 1st game and has like 2 ABs in blowouts.

Admittedly, most of my worry is based on really old information from past seasons. Everybody will get a chance to be a new man this spring, and then I'll rejudge things. Right now I'm just nervous.

Me too. Like someone said earlier, this weekend would have been no big deal, if not in the context of the last 2 seasons. It is way early though and we need to give the new kids a chance to shine. Doc is right though--if a couple of the new guys don't step up, we are in for a long season.

Series like these happen nearly every year. Maybe not always quite this bad. But we have bad losses even in good years.

But honestly, in the current format of the NCAA tournament coupled with the resources of LSU baseball and sheer name recognition, lsu should almost NEVER miss the tournament.

Back to back years tournament absence would be inexcusable IMO.

With the history and recognition we have, you should always have a team that is at least good enough to QUALIFY for the tournament.

Sure there will be downyears, where we don't get out of a regional and don't host one. But we should always make it.

That being said, I'm hoping that manieri can right this ship.

That about sums it up. No Hoover and no Regional this year gets PM the hook.

I accept losing in baseball, but not like we did this past wkend. It's crazy that we can't hit a lefty at ALL! Minus Mahtook, we're the same team as last year with more experienced pitching and probably better pitching, but the bats have to come around or we're in a bind. App State?! C'mon man!

Last week there was a thread about how we were going to go 17-0 I know it's early but when App st pitching shuts down your offense it looks bad for when we play against SEC pitching.
