Yeah but at the same time you can punish them too harshly. Can't punish them for playing on a day when everyone else is sitting at home.

Thanks Tut. Any diehard fan of CFB is a friend of mine. I come in peace and I don't care about Clemson, I don't care about Utah, I don't care about Oklahoma, this season HAS TO END with Ohio State vs. LSU in the National Championship.

I'm one of the few Ohio State fans who listen to Clay Travis daily. He still hasn't explained why the committee would want Ohio State #1 and not Clemson or LSU.
But that's not his point. He isn't arguing that LSU should be #1. He's pointing out that the Committee seems to be deliberately ranking Big Ten teams higher than all other polls, and SEC teams lower. He also notes that the only anomaly is Minnesota, which happens to be the only Big Ten team that won't play Ohio State this year and therefore has the least impact on the relative ranking of Ohio State and LSU.
Last week the Committee cited the eye test for putting OSU up over LSU and was criticized. This week they seem to be going out of their way to say "but, OSU's resume too" and juicing that resume with their relative rankings of Big Ten teams v. SEC teams. Oh and Cincinnati, who no one would take straight up against Ole Miss with a gun to their head.

They would have 3 losses.
They should drop at least 4 spots.

Why would the committee want Ohio State #1? The vast majority of the region is from outside the Midwest.

They are protecting Ohio State from having to play Clemson.

Why would the committee care enough about Ohio State to want to not see them play Clemson? Unless they want to guarantee the two best teams play in the NC, that is the only reason I can think of.

Hasn’t he been saying OSU is #1 and shouldn’t be jumped for weeks?

Nah, I think he's had LSU #1 for a while now.

So you think the committee should punish them for playing in the conference championship game? That doesn't seem fair to me.

They have no business being in the top 10 anyway. They were only put there by the committee to help bolster OSU’s ranking. And yes, they should drop for losing. Every team does. If UGA would drop from 4 to 7 or 8, then Wisconsin should drop to at least 12.

I think Wisconsin is fine in the Top 10. Win over Iowa and dominated wins over Michigan and @ Minnesota. I don't think there should be any controversy about Wisconsin personally.
Regarding Georgia, the only reason I believe they drop back is because the teams directly behind them will be winning that weekend, whether it is Utah and/or Baylor/OU

There are at least two reasons:
1. There are 13 members of the Committee. Only two members have any real ties to the SEC (I say "real ties" because there is a former Army Chief of Staff and I honestly don't know any affiliations) and those are dumbass RC Slocum who was a former Aggie HC and the lovely Florida AD.
2. TV revenue. The networks want a northern school to play the winner of the two best Southern schools. Utah getting in would be a disaster. So the best way to ensure Ohio State is in the championship is to pair the two Southern Schools in the semi-final.
FWIW, I think the Committee honestly thinks Ohio State is better. They told the truth last week and said they were the more complete team. They got criticized for it and this week they fudged the rankings to allow them to say "actually Ohio State's resume is quite good too. I mean they beat Cincinnati, who is a top 20 team even though they haven't beaten anyone with a pulse and lost the only two challenging games they have played by double digits."

I have noticed that the committee moreso this year than in years past is giving much more love to the G5 teams. Which I personally don't agree with. I do to an extent, but Cincinnati should not be Top 20. 24 or 25 fine. App State should not be around 20.

So you think UGA should drop if they lose but Wisconsin “is just fine” in the top 10.” LOL. Of course you do. What the hell are you doing on our message board anyway?
Posted on 12/4/19 at 7:52 pm to LouisianaLonghorn
I mean I clearly stated that UGA would still be ahead of Wisconsin and that Wisconsin should drop, just can't drop teams that lose this week too far. Anybody else would lose to LSu and Ohio State as well.. Don't be so sensitive brotha.
