Seen this several times. And as this was happening I was thinking why is our biggest dude not in the back to protect the rim. Few seconds later Kentucky throws up an Ally And dunks it home. Is it just me or does that not make any sense? Can anyone let me know why this helps us succeed? That just seems like a terrible defensive scheme.

I’ve been wondering about this all season since he started playing.

How big a sample size of that never happening is needed to make a change though?

I don’t like that. He’s not back to protect the rim, and it seems he would be to slow to hang with a guard without being drove by.

Do those tons of teams have a 6'5 guy under the basket garding a 6'9" guy. They have lobbed over us all night/season long.

Steals vs lobs for 2 or 3 all night long.

You ideally want one of your longest most athletic guys at the point of the press to interrupt passing lanes and get deflections. If you have a small guard up front the ball is much easier to reverse and swing against the press.

If they ran their damn press right, it is who you want. A long, tall guy who is hard to throw over or around but it’s f-ing easy when they don’t close the distance and get up in their grill. So damn frustrating watching this garbage. I had better coaches in high school.
