For years we were stuck with a Stone Age offense that just flat out sucked. Getting a first down was a success. It was that bad. It seems that we’ve finally gotten over that hurdle and now we are putting points on the board at ease. Seeing our offense this year make strides each week gets me excited. There was some speculation that we may go back to our old ways and that’s not the case at all. Now on to the defense. LSU is having a historically bad year on defense so far. Pelini honestly may not make it through the season. I just don’t think we are a program that is going to allow this to fester into a problem that will linger for years like what happened with the offense. If we can sustain this offensive success we are going to be just fine. LSU is not a program who is going to allow the defense to be this bad. Something has to give it’s either Pelini figures it out or he’s fired. We have way to much talent to be this bad on defense. The future is super bright. Geaux Tigers!

Definitely a silver lining. Just the fact that we aren't afraid to throw the ball anymore is nice.

No way he gets fired during the season.

Well we certainly aren’t back to our old ways on the OL or running the ball

Let’s see this great offense against a defense with a pulse before we crown ourselves the new offensive juggernaut.

3rd downs and red zone is usually the best indicator of an offense’s actual merit and that has certainly been less than encouraging.

Once again, not back to our old ways. Nowadays the coordinators get all the blame while the HC is blameless. Times they are a changin indeed!!

Opens up thread expecting short simple argument. Sees long diatribe and doesn’t read.

This is horse shite. Third down and red zone success usually comes for a successful offense, but it’s definitely NOT the best indicator. The best indicator is scoring.

And typically scoring follows 3rd down conversions and red zone success.

Brennan played VERY well last week, but we scored so much because we were given short fields......3 or 4 times?

Our passing game is good enough to get the job done, assuming our defense can make just a couple stops. Our running game, however, is almost nonexistent right now.

Is scoring against MSU Vandy and Missou convincing though?

Score 40 against better SEC defenses and yeah that’s one thing.

But when you stall out in key situations against bad defenses having some doubts about the overall effectiveness of the offense definitely isn’t “horseshite”

This post is dead on.

I would add that the LSU "product" is better, even with the abomination that you see now with BP.

Three years ago, if we had this D to go with that crappy O, I would change the channel. Not a fun product to watch.

We could go 0-10 this year, and we would still be fun to watch. As painful as Mizzou and MSU were, we were always in the game. No need to change the channel or leave the stadium waiting for a stone age offense to hopefully work.

OP is dead on.

We are going in the right direction. BP will be booted and replaced with someone that can actually adjust. When that happens, look out.
