i didn't realize that you needed to hear the maniacs to lead you in cheers. Sorry I apoligize

we sit right off to the side behind the goal at hornets games and they handout balloons to the fans that sit behind the goal for hornets games. sound like the same type of fans your talking about. but they do wave those balloons maybe they should do that at the p- mac its cheap and easy to do.

you don't think the student section would be much louder if they were all together?
the football SS would be weak if they divided it around the stadium.
like i said, i can't help you if you don't comprehend the reasoning behind it

[quote]LSU fans have a football mentality. Its hard to convert them into basketball fans.
Maybe with today's fans.

the older fans, the ones who were probably around when dale was the coach, are the ones who do nothing. They didn't even return geaux tigers half the time

which why I tried for the towel thing since LSU was handing out 2,000. Brought over an additional 240 to be put behind one of the goals....and nothing
Posted on 1/25/09 at 11:35 am to Mudminnow
more towels would have helped with the noise

I agree... I was sitting in the upper bowl and it was hard to hear the Maniacs cheering.
I dont wanna hear any of this bullshite about us being a football school and not being able to get pumped uo about football. There are plenty of football dominated schools that still pack their basketball arenas every night (Fla, Bama, State)... I'm sure the bandwagon fans will start coming out once Trent turns us into a solid program... kind of like baseball last year

i hold season tickets in the south end zone for football. i think some of those fans your talking about sit there. they kill me sometimes sitting on there hands like there in church or something. exp. for non conf. games
Posted on 1/25/09 at 11:41 am to TigerPhan27
sure as hell would have helped generate some excitement. Or perhaps been distracting to Xavier at the foul line. Nope, instead people sat on their hands and Xavier raped us at the line.

I appreciate your effort in getting the crowd pumped mud, but towels are not going to stop people from making FT's
Posted on 1/25/09 at 11:49 am to Mudminnow
i know i was looking for the towels. isaw a few fans waving what looked like purple towels but none behind the goals. maybe they put them in there pockets.

Towels is one thing. It works great at Penn State and with the Pittsburgh steelers. But fans just dont seem to care at LSU.
Fans of LSU seem to think we dont need friggen towels to get the place rockin as we have the loudest voices in the nation.
Still living off the past football wise.
I was pretty disappointed last night

lastnight's crowd seemed like many felt they were obligated to be there since the team won 2 in a row, but most expected a loss or blowout. Its just been the fan's mentality under Brady

Last night was just the perfect example of the bandwagon getting hitched. Many were there for their first game. Many were there bc they thought this might compare to "an all-time great moment". When Xavier went up by 7 or 8, you'd have thought there was a 90 percent off sale at the concession stand.
Last night was everything I expected it to be. My endzone section, with the exception of the I Phone ninjas, was pretty solid about standing and cheering.

Bumping this.
Watched on TV from MS and was very dissapointed. Couldn't believe everybody was just sitting there watching that guy (58% free throw shooter) shoot and did absolutely nothing. Hell, even Vanderbilt's crowd is more rowdy.
