bsmi154 You might need to check Urban's and Nick's record at OS and UA in their 2nd years. Urban was 12-2 following a 12-0 record is first year. Nick was 12-2 and in the SEC championship game. Just a wild guess, but both were competing for titles in year 2.

It does but the team is exceeding expectations in all of those cases. A coach is never expected to contend for a title until year 3. Urban Meyer and Nick Saban were not contending for titles in year 2 at Ohio St and Alabama. Expecting LSU to contend for a title this year is just an unrealistic standard that someone sets for a coach that they don't like. Nobody would be saying that Tom Herman needed to contend for a title this year.

Saban went 12-0 in his second year at Bama. Granted he did lose vs UF (national champion), and got beat bad by an undefeated Utah team in the Sugar Bowl (who finished #2 in the poll), but you're talking about a Bama team not too long prior, coming off sanctions.

Meyer went undefeated his first year at Ohio St, but because of prior restrictions, Ohio St couldn't compete in the postseason. He then went undefeated again in the regular season the very next year, yet like Saban in 2008, he lost the conference championship game and lost to Clemson in the Fiesta bowl.

Now I'm not saying a coach should be expected to compete for a championship in year two, there's a lot of shite that goes into that and situations are different. I was just correcting you here.

I do expect Coach O to compete for a championship in 2019. With what everybody else is losing and us gaining experience and depth everywhere (in the trenches most importantly), we should be poised for a breakout year. If he can't win in 2019, when will he?

Big 10 has been very weak without Michigan. Nick and Les made urban quit the sec.

Bama did go 12-0 on 2008, but west was down then. Lsu's worst year over a long stretch, and not much else competitive. Not downplaying 12-0...but the west is a lot different 10 years later.

I expect lsu to be a very tough out this year. Burrow is the key, if he is really good then a championship is not out of question. But I agree, 2019 our OL should be salty as hell, returning QB and wrs...and rbs.

Kirby Smart and Lincoln Riley say hello. Both are examples just from last year.

Both are in far weaker divisions though

You are why LSU fans have a silly reputation.

I just factored everything in and set the expectations so now I just need you to do 2 things:

1. Deal with it

2. Stay in your lane.

Nah, that's an excuse. UGA played Notre Dame, Auburn, Miss St, and South Carolina in the regular season. All four of those teams had at least 9 wins last year. If you want to use Group of 5 teams like LSU fans do with Troy, then 5 of the 12 opponents they played had at least 9 wins. LSU, Troy included, only played 4. Hell, UGA played 8 teams who had at least 7 wins.

Oklahoma played @ Ohio St, @ Oklahoma St, and vs TCU. All of those teams finished with 10+ wins. They played 5 teams with at least 8 wins and 6 teams with at least 7 wins. They also didn't play a FCS team. In comparison, LSU played a FCS team (an awful FCS team to be exact), and only 5 teams with at least 7 wins.

Oklahoma and UGA played against a far superior OOC opponent compared to LSU. UGA played against far superior cross divisional opponents, than LSU. Oklahoma didn't play an FCS team and had to do a 9 game conference schedule.

This is why I say O fanboys are nuts, and to stop making excuses for him. That LSU team last year had experienced Juniors and seniors almost everywhere, and the worst schedule I've seen in forever for us, yet we couldn't win more than 9 total games. If we had gotten Mullen like I wanted, we would have been no worse than 11-1 last year. That team regardless of who we'd pay 3-5 million for, should have won 11 games total last year.

Inexcusable.

I feel you, bro, but relax.

The bar has been set. The Powerpoint presentation has been delivered to the BOS. Alleva and O have been notified. Aranda has been fitted for a Britney Spears headset and Duke Riley has enough Southwest reward points to book 3 round-trip flights.

There’s nothing left to be done but wait and see.
