don't bitch out.....you said we definatly had a national seed no matter what we did in a tourny that means nothing to us. in my scenario which is quite plausible i'm proving your arse wrong.

Alabama won't get a national seed. They have an RPI of 26. You MIGHT have an argument if Florida and Ole Miss go undefeated to the Championship...but we'd more likely get 3 national seeds in that case instead of us dropping out.

yeah if florida and ole miss COULD meet in the championship game i'd be certain they would get top 8 seeds, but i still don't think we'd get one if that happened.

Bottom line, if I am Maineri, I'm not chancing anything and will put my team in a position to get to the championship game. I certainly would not have the view "we're a lock, so I'm going to rest my best pitchers". That would be foolish.

Why do you think the NCAA would suddenly ignore what we did throughout the season? 24 wins v. RPI Top 100. Won the #1 RPI conference. 41 wins total.

UGA was 35-19 going into the SEC tourney last year before going 0-2. They still got a national seed at 35-21. We are 41-15 right now.

Not to mention we are #1 in attendance in the NCAA by a long shot. They'd give us a national seed over many other teams just for that.

so if Ranaudo pitches tomorrow you think he is durable enough to come back Sunday?

Coleman could and has shown he's durable.. so why not pitch him Thursday and Ranaudo Friday? I think we only get one strong start out of Ranaudo regardless... unless he gets roughed up early and we can pull him at a low pitch count, which is unlikely

Why not pitch someone who needs the experience, or someone to give them an opportunity when we need someone to come in relief or start an extra game in Omaha. Start Bradshaw, Cain, Alsup, or Matulis.
If we make it to the SECCG, that's good and all, but by that time we'll have wrapped up a natinoal seed, makes no sense to risk either Ranaudo or Coleman's arm. Let them rest up.

I think winning an SEC Tourney is one of the goals for any team... if you get to the Championship game and a durable guy like Coleman has had 60 hours of rest (if he starts Thurs) then why not try and let him go? At least let him start and put him on a pitch count

I don't think you experiment in an SEC Tourney Championship game...it's still a big game for the program...just my opinion

i think decreasing the risk of him throwing to much and throwing his arm out or chance of him getting hurt is more important than winning a semi-meaningless tourney

Matulis in the Championship game, I think...but it would prolly be a bullpen-by-committee

Win - pitch Ranaudo
Lose - pitch Bradshaw or Matulis

If we lose... we would want to throw our best pitcher possible. Going 0-2 might cost us a national seed. While going at least 1-2 would be ok.
