I confess that I didn't even watch the game. I have noticed, however, that LSU often goes cold at the end of hard-fought games. Could this be the result of fatigue? Besides the obvious coaching blunders, can our problems be fixed with more depth?

Jordan Mickey missed Layup.
Jordan Mickey missed Layup.
Jordan Mickey missed Layup.
Jordan Mickey missed Layup.

Jordan Mickey missed Layup.

JJ's an idiot. He just needed to stop Jordan Mickey from attempting layups!

1. Proud of the team's motivation and heart.
2. Fatigue was definitely the difference. Players were tired at the free throw line.
3. Not sure why only 6-7 players played tonight. Is our bench that bad? Can't win games without a bench. The biggest problem for this team all year.
4. Mickey should stay for another year.
5. Martin is ready but another year would make him a lottery player most certain.
6. BB Team thanks for a great season!

Can't win when you miss 6 free throws and miss 11 out of 12 shots late; however, we had 28 points in the paint in the first half but abandoned that strategy in the 2nd half. ???

we're lucky NC ST went cold late (3 for 11) or we would have gotten blown out.

Yes!

Once and for all, listen! When a team is leading and slowly falling apaart giving up a big lead and your coach doesn't have enough of a feel for the game to call one of his MANY timeouts, you will lose a ton of close games. Especially to a better game coach.
At one point we had 4 guys above the timeline and 3 of them were standing by the ball. AND WE WERE ON OFFENSE!! And our overpaid coach is sitting on 3 timeouts?
I could go on and on. He just doesn't have enough of a game mind to realize situations. It's become embarrassing.

When it happens once? Sure.

But this happened 3 times this year.

I really don't think the coach or this team realizes that 360 windmill between the legs slam dunks are worth 2 points, not 4 or 5. What's evident is that these players spend more time practicing their SportsCenter highlight plays than working on fundamentals, like free throws.

And that falls on coaching.

Having sat in on practices under John Brady, Rick Stansbury, Tubby Smith, Gene Keady, Lute Olsen, Billy Donovan and Mike Anderson, among others, I can unequivocally say that the extent of FT shooting in practice comes down to coaches telling players to put up "x" amount of free throws after practice as the coaches are walking off the floor. NCAA limits your practice time to 20 hrs a week with a full coaching staff, there's no way anyone is wasting that time with an individual accountability item like ft shooting.

Even with that being said, Patterson shot 84% from the line this year. Hornbsby shot near 80%. Does Johnny get credit for that? Hell, as team this year we had a better FT% than Louisville, West Va, Syracuse and VCU. Does that make Johnny a better HC than Pitino, Boeheim, Huggins and Smart? You're drunk. Go home.

Good coaches make sure that their best free throw shooters and ball handlers touch the ball as much as possible so that they are the ones shooting free throws at the end of the game.

Did that happen?

Was Patterson even in the game?

And whose fault is that.

Good coaches don't tell their players force-feed it to Martin in the paint 4 seconds into the shot clock so that they can play hack-a-Shaq and come back on you.

PERFECT example of how dumb and blind you are!

Go back and watch the end. Those 2 guys should have exclusively had the ball in their hands. That's what good coaches do with their best free throw shooters at the end.
They work hard at that all year and have earned the right to be at the line ending games.

Shaq is one of the greatest players of all time, but he was benched at the end of games like this because of weak free throws. It's something that is just automatically done by a solid coach, period!

So because Mickey got fouled on a defensive rebound putting him on the line the last time, that's "not putting the ball in a good FT shooter's hands"?

Did you even watch the game? NC State wasn't intentionally fouling, they fouled Jordan on what should've been a jump ball and then hacked him on a layup. So just putting it in Jalyn or Keith's hands would've done nothing.

Just went back to the play chart from last night. Both FT trips for Mickey were fouls on defensive rebounds, not just the last one. You guys are right, shame on CJJ for not having a set play designed to get Quarterman the defensive board there.

Blaming this on JJ is like blaming Pearl Harbor on America for having a Navy base in the Pacific.

The last 3 mins of that game was pathetic.

How the hell do you lose to a team that you've dominated for the majority if the game... Leave it to LSU.

You quit on the game at halftime, way before the actual team did.
