I really think that we will win the West and we could definitely beat Georgia in ATL, I don’t think we could beat Tennessee, unless it’s 2007 and 2001 all over again.

Put down the crack pipe......we are not going to win out and we definitely could not beat Georgia....the FL win was great, but let's not go crazy....

Why not go crazy/

Why not predict home wins over challenging foes and road wins over mediocre to bad foes?

We can win the rest. We may not, but we definitely can.

Or is it fun for you to be right when we lose? I’d rather have been right in predicting a win, or wins, personally.

Why do we have to hold up? Where is the sure loss on our schedule prior to Atlanta?

Apart from UAB, where is the sure win? At its best, this team is capable of going 5-0. At its worst, they are capable of 1-4. Inconsistency should be expected in a rebuild. It’s unrealistic to think one good game represents a complete turnaround. 3-2 or 2-3 is much more likely.

The rant is the most entertaining place on the internet. After a loss we aren’t even going to be bowl eligible. After a win we’re undefeated rest of way and in the national championship.

Looks like only three teams can win the west at this point because they have no SEC-W losses, Bama, Ole Miss and LSU. If we win the next two weeks lets re-enter this discussion

A reasonable take to be sure. But you state it yourself - 5-0 is a real possibility. I would also ask you, where is the sure loss in our schedule? I do admit that the most likely outcome is 4-1.

But I’d like to enter the hypothetical scenario where we do win the rest here. In that case. We must be in consideration for the playoffs.

Did you omit the Georgia Missouri game from your memory? Georgia is no where near as dominant as Tennessee is.

I certainly think we will. I am not alone. Vegas has installed us as an actual betting favorite in this game. Betting lines. Don’t look if you like misery.

Yes, “IF”. That’s the whole point of this thread. Sheesh.

That’s not really what I said. If LSU were to fire on all cylinders in every facet of the game in every game they could go 5-0. That’s not really a realistic expectation. Even the best teams don’t play at their best in every game. Look at Auburn in 2019 or the many subpar defensive performances that year or the subpar offensive showing against Miss St. That is compounded even more in a rebuilding season under a new coach. The offense will not play as well as they did last night in every game (and quite possibly not again this season.) The defense wasn’t great last night and special teams were terrible. With even a little step back offensively, that level of performance puts them at risk in 4 of the 5 remaining games. Going 2-2 in those games is more indicative of the average level this team has shown.

That’s a fair assessment. However, I would argue that the expectation should be higher based on what we saw last night. Based on the first 6 games, yes that is the average level of play. But last night Daniels was able to connect with the most talented bunch in our team and we showed true capability through the passing attack.

Playoff? What playoff? This isn’t the NFL.

I haven’t been as down on Daniels and the offense as others have, but the level they played last night seems more like the ceiling a team reaches maybe once or twice a season, not the new normal. A&M and Arkansas are comparable to Florida, and quite honestly, similar in level to LSU. Sweeping 3 teams on the road that aren’t much worse than you are is a tall order. Splitting with A&M and Arkansas and splitting with with Ole Miss and Bama would be a good finish. Now, if LSU beats Ole Miss next week and the offense looks anywhere close to the same level, then I might be a little more bullish.

Ah, a good rational discussion. So rare these days…

I would like to point out that we no longer have to sweep 3 teams. We only have to sweep 2, because 1 has been dispatched.

The level of pkay: can we eliminate the special teams fumble? While it has happened far too frequently, I would argue that it’s likely we’ve seen the last one, because muffed punts and fumbled kickoffs are quite rare. So even though we played very well on offense, our defense was not good last night.

All said, I think it’s likely we beat both of A&M and Arkansas. Win one of ole miss/Bama and it’s a very good season. Win them both and it’s a great season. But we’re having a sober conversation about that possibility because we see what we are capable of now.

Just a little bump for your consideration.

We are in the conversation and in control of our destiny.
