I understand what you're saying but if voters deliberately vote for a BCSCG match up they'd most like to see, and there is precedent of this happening in the past, rather than the two best teams then the whole process loses whatever relevance it currently enjoys.

For the record I don't want to see a rematch with Bama but I'd rather a game pitting the two best over a contrived match up.

Wow Sagarin has VT at 18! I assumed if they won out they were in, but if the other computers agree with that ranking they may be s.o.l. no matter what the regular polls do.

Yep, Appalachian State, Marshall, East Carolina and Arkansas State won't get you a lot of love from the computers.

The difference is that Bama has an SEC schedule to fall back on while VT has the ACC. LSU, Auburn and Arkansas is a tougher package than Duke, Wake and BC.

this year (only) vandy, tennessee, kentucky and ole miss are as bad a bottom of a conference as any BCS automatic-bid conferences there are

I agree. But VT has not played anyone who approaches LSU and Arkansas. It could be argued they don't have a single quality win on their resume. GT perhaps but GT is barely hanging on to a top 25 ranking.

You can add Penn State to that as well.

this all goes back to my original post from this morning that LSU is the only team capable this year of handling pressure. In fact, they thrive on it. If the rest of the country could take care of their business, then this rematch talk would be void. Unfortunately, there is a hard-on for Bama and they will probably be rewarded for losing at home sooner than later.

This weekend clearly backs up your premise. OSU, OU, Oregon and even Clemson all withered to the pressure.

I would love to see an LSU/VT or LSU/Stanford or LSU/OSU BCSCG before an LSU/Bama rematch but unless OSU beats OU and that allows voters to see their way to having them jump Bama, its likely we'll see a rematch.

But first things first. We have to beat Arky.

Th goal should be to take the two best football teams, period.

That's should be the only criteria. If the ACC champ is better than the SEC western division runner up then take the ACC champ. If they're not deemed better than it would be a travesty to select them over a superior team.

the goal should NOT be to have the best 2 teams play. the only way you could have that happen is with a playoff. otherwise, its all speculation as to who the best 2 teams are.

you need at least SOME criteria, like winning your conference.

however if Bama ends up the only 1 loss team in the country in the end, you have to make an exception.

I dont know about the rest of you, but i want to see LSU play BAMA again in OUR house. i would LOVE to beat BAMA twice in a year.

This is very obviously not the goal of a playoff. If it was there'd be no such thing as a wild card.

So what's the goal?

So a big east winner is worthy of consideration but a Bama or LSU is out if they don't win their conference?

I agree, and hopefully my theory holds of us liking pressure. Arkansas, in their three road games (aside from texas a&m) is 2-1. they gave up 24 to ole miss (5 point victory) and 28 to vandy (3 point victory) and lets not forget 38 -14 score against Bama. The true mark of a champion is how they have played on the road and Les is "raising" these boys on it!

the goal for a BCSNC --- to take the two highest rated BCS-conference-automatic-bid conference champions.

I know it's interesting to think of all the possible scenarios but some of us just need to give it up.Alabama provided they win out and we do will very likely be the opponent we play.Okie St has a chance to pass them if they throttle Oklahoma in the last game because of their computer ranking but it's a long shot based on the human polls right now.The school to watch imo is Stanford. They got a big boost in the human polls this week so it will depend on their computer ranking.Va Tech has no chance imo. They are weak and their schedule is weak. They suck in the computer ratings.I wouldn't put it past the voters to manipulate the voting to put Okie St or Stanford over Bama for the many stated reasons over the last few weeks but right now it definitely appears that unless Bama loses to Auburn they'll be our opponent in New Orleans.Time to face facts.I really don't get some of our fans inferiority complex in regards to Bama.I know very few will admit it but it seems a lot of our fans are scared of Bama and want us to play the easiest opponent out there.I don't care who we play. We'll beat whoever they send our way. We're that good.

Right now Stanford has very little chance. They need Oregon State to beat Oregon to even enter the discussion, and I just don't see that happening.

Agreed

Our offensive strength is running the ball and run defense is Arky's weakness. Their strength is throwing the ball but defending the pass is our defensive strength. If everything plays out according to script we're 12-0 and heading to Atlanta.
