I think one person in this thread has named a viable option. Everyone else is of the belief the LSU basketball program is Kansas or Kentucky.

who?

please be me, please be me.

I really think Billy Kennedy would be a good hire, he's got head coaching experience in Louisiana, took SELU to the tourney, and also has asst coaching experience in the ACC.

eta: and Kennedy is from Metairie and went to Holy Cross.

Billy Kennedy would be a really good hire IMO, he has had success at Murray State, and is a Louisiana native.

I think he is a WAAAAAYYYY better fit than Trent Johnson at LSU.

He'd probably die of alcohol poisoning before he ever coached a single game. Moving to Louisiana isn't a good idea for hard core alcoholics.

Peej...doing well. Been lying low!

I don't know who I'd like to see coach. Probably like to see a really young guy come in, but then you have the possibility that he could use the LSU job as a stepping stone. But I think we could pony up and keep him here.

Wojo is a decent idea.

In no particular order:

Blaine Taylor - ODU. Great half court system with emphasis on rebounding

Shaka Smart - VCU. Full court press style, coached at Florida and Clemson, big time recruiter - landed Kenny Boyton (sp) to Florida.

Johnny Jones - UNT. Former LSU Player.

Butch Pierre - Ok State Asst. Former LSU Asst Coach, LA native (would probably love the challenge of rebuilding since he may feel he was passed over last time)

i'll edit once more names come to mind

St. John's coach.

st john's can recruit the Catholic schools of North Jersey, as well as NYC and Long Island.

for basketball, the NY metro area is the logical equivalent of Texas to football.

no chance to get Lavin to La.

I like him. He played on an undefeated class A team from Drake high, in west Marin, for his dad, which won Class A California and then there was a match game vs the AAA champ Mater Dei of L.A. Lavin's team won. That team were folk heroes in Marin. undefeated small school beats the traditional state champs from L.A. premier.

And he backed into 1 UCLA national championship using Harricks guys. He didnt do much at UCLA with his own guys.

Taylor's system requires you have 1 real deal power player and a real point guard, the two most difficult players to find/recruit.

Smart's system requires that you all play hard. easy to duplicate with most players.

Johnny Jones wouldn't be the worst hire. He has done a nice job at UNT and no doubt he bleeds purple and gold.

Butch Pierre would be near the top of my list for coaches that should not be considered for this job.
