I think we'd be screaming about the playcall that gave the QB only one receiver. Of course, Lee would have just thrown the ball anyway, since he's generally a gunslinger and he knew he had only one option.

Bad play call. Bad execution on the max-protect. Bad execution at quarterback.

Guys, a one receiver route is not a bad call if the pass is a long bomb, even if it's thrown into double coverage. If you throw the ball 50+ yards in the air, it's equivalent of a punt, even if it's intercepted. JJ just needed to heave it, and hope Randall came down with it, it was incomplete, or make sure the db was tackled. ThAt's it. Instead, he held the ball and took a safety, something every school child knows not to do.

come on, man... seriously?

WVU threw for more than 400 yards against LSU. How did that end up?

Jefferson averaged 12 yards per attempt last night and we ran for nearly 300 yards. Their offense played keep away in the first half, and we were unable to get the ball... and when we did, we fumbled it away.

JJ played well. I don't imagine he'll play as much going forward, though. I think (if I can attempt to read Miles' mind) that he wanted to see JJ play with a more open play book, and since we couldn't get the ball in the first half, he continued playing him until he felt he had seen enough.

Some of you are making way too much of this.

But he was blatantly hit in the head yet none of our fans wanted to focus on that. Had it been JL it would have been the topic of 10 threads. Look at last week how many said JL got hit late on a very close play....hit to the head is definitely a penalty.

Did ULL win that game? No. They didn't. I don't care if they threw for over 400 yards against WKU if they didn't win. WKU beat ULL 42-23. That was the most important stat of the day. You know what the most important stat was yesterday? LSU over WKU 42-9.

JJ probably cared more about not throwing the long INT than taking the safety.

It IS a bad call with Jefferson at quarterback. He's deathly afraid to throw it unless the receiver is wide open. Lee would have thrown the ball. It may have been intercepted, but he would have gotten rid of it.

So in general, it's not a terrible call if the max-protect actually protects, and if the QB can make a competent decision when the receiver is covered.

I can't wait until the JJ/JL saga is over. Neither is that good.

Very high risk, only one, going deep. Why didn't they trust enough to have a short and medium receiver? Didn't think the line could block? Why not go to a quick slant for 10 yards?

Seems like a very low risk call, one read - throw it to an open receiver or throw it away and punt. Not a lot of decisions for JJ other than to not get sacked. Max blocking, no risk of an interception close to the goal line with a tip or an inaccurate throw, thrown with max velocity and no touch. He really had an easy decision IMHO.

Nothing wrong with punting in that situation after an incomplete.
