since you all have forgotten, let's go over the stats again:
232/342 (67.8%) for 3129 yards (9.15) 28 TD/8 INT (167.0 rating)
JR was #1 in the BCS in QB rating (3rd overall behind beck from BYU and Brennan from Hawaii. Beck was only 2 points ahead)
JR was #2 in the BCS in yards per attempt (behind brohm at 9.74, and 4th overall behind brennan/beck again).
JR threw for a 67.84 completion rate, which was more than 4 points ahead of brohm (63.58)
JR was the best QB in CFB in 2006. just look at the stats. we're not even taking the schedule into account

Unless some anoints him in a thread/post that he is the greatest player in the history of Earth, you burst into tear.
no. people compare JR to obviously inferior QBs like Mauck and Davey and they need to be corrected

I think that Rohan would have made that pass because of the incredible touch that he had on the ball.
Rohan was bailed out over and over and over by Josh Reed making great plays on poorly thrown balls. Ro was good. I like Ro. I appreciate what he did for us. But if you think Ro had better touch than JR, you are mistaken. Reed made Rohan look great in college. Really he was just pretty good. The guy with the "incredible touch" can't even start for an Arena team now. Please.

2 of those years were "bad" years, schedule-wise. 2006 may have been the worst schedule i've ever seen
1 year was katrina, and our team did get to the SEC title game
and you are using team accomplishments to judge individuals, which is stupid logic

but as for those other stats, any decent QB can get that in college FB.
then why didn't they?
why didn't rohan?
why didn't flynn?

I can't think of a better college pocket style QB (playing similar competition, etc) other than Peyton Manning. You have to go back almost a decade to find someone that rivals him and his ability. (There could be someone I am forgetting in that time span, but no one is coming to mind)

IMO, JR was the least impressive black QB for LSU (except for the Notre Dame game in the Sugar Bowl). To me, the most impressive black QB for LSU was either Davey or Herb Tyler... I'm pretty certain that Jordan Jefferson will also join Davey and Tyler as the most impressive black QBs for LSU.
Wow. Just wow.

I'm not making this about Flynn and JR again, but Flynn threw for over 50% comp rate, and over 2500 yds. despite being hurt most of the year and sharing time with RP, did I mention that. and only had 1 season to do it.

quote:harder schedule so you say, JR to me built up most of his stats against inferior opp, like the first 3 games before AU, then couldn't do nothing against them or Fla., and got bailed out by Holliday against Ark in the last game of the season.

not arguing about him and Flynn been there done that, two diff type of QB's, but a lot of ya'll overhype JR.

I must have missed this. All I see is people making ludicrous statements "de-valuing" JR and trying to make guys like Rohan, Flynn, and now (gasp) even Herb Tyler as better college QB's than him. Some guys follow ludicrous statements like these up with the facts about JR. If anything JR is "underhyped" on here. The fact that he even has to be defended is simply stunning.

That right there is where the debate shifts. It starts out as a position discussion and when people can't win that debate it shifts to a team discussion. Stay focused.

My point is they show up in defense of him in the midst of threads attacking him and making ludicrous statements about how even a guy like Herb Tyler was a better QB than JR. You really can't expect folks to remain silent with that type of lunacy going on. The thing is, no one really starts a "Let me tell you how awesome JR is" thread.

had 1 season to do it.
4 to prepare

And don't forget that some of the greatest college QB ever left school without titles. Many. As a matter of fact, I'd say that in a list of THE greatest college QB's, most of them didn't win one. Peyton, Eli, Bradshaw, great pro QB's, that didn't win the NC....Montana, Elway, the list goes on and on. On the other side of the coin, there are guys with titles, on great teams with great coaches that did win a NC but weren't outstanding QBs and many never had a good pro career. Titles aren't really a big factor is determining a great college QB
