Not gonna happen. The kid has 8 figures in guaranteed money waiting for him.

NFL lock out may say otherwise.

I'd have to agree. I don't like the way the 2020-2030 recruiting classes are looking at this point.

How do we know what happens in the next 20 years?

Who knows what player may sign with LSU in 5 years, etc?

There will be a draft and he will be in it, lockout or not. The lockout isn't going to last forever so why risk injuring yourself to play for free when it would cost you millions. He's gonna be top 5 pick in draft most likely, it would be insane to come back.

The NFL Lockout would be a good reason not to go pro. Why go pro when you can't sign a contract?

I heard there's a 2 year old that's tearing it up in his playpen in Monroe. Likely to be better than Bo Jackson. Hope we can get this kid.

He could leave now and start on an NFL team if he wanted to.

also, you guys might notice that this thread is based on what's called a hypothetical. As in if this circumstances occurs, then what could be expected.

you are then invited to extrapolate any potential results based on the question at hand.

the question is whether or not people think we'll ever have another guy as talented and set up for a Heisman Run as PP in 2011?

They will still have the draft and slot him accordingly and will pay him when play resumes. He will also not be subject to the rookie pay scale which is almost a certainty. Also, why come back and risk injury or hurting your draft status.

Top pick with current rookie pay scale and not playing is > top pick with rookie salary cap in two years > injury

He is going pro.

I don't think so. He'd have to play offense and be dynamite on returns (KR, PR, INT). He won't play offense and might get a few chances for KR and PR but almost nil for INTs.

1) Hard to see him returning because the draft will still happen and this may be the last chance for first round picks to clean up

2) LSU is now a name program that just needs the right candidate to get another Heisman... typically that means an great upperclassman QB or RB in a year when LSU is contending for a NC. And yes, it's a bit of a bullshite award when those are the overwhelming criteria
