For the next 5 year , but never wins the sec west or make it to a BCS bowl
is that a success or a failure ?
Failure. The goal is to win the West, and have a chance to play for the NC.

our OOC games have been pretty respectable, compared to some other top tier teams.

I think you are right and so does the BCS since they rank the LSU SOS at bout #13 in the nation.

As to the number of games per year, LSU was playing 12 game seasons on a regular basis as far back as the 70ies. In Mac's last 5 yrs he played 58 games, in Gerry's 5 yrs he played 58 games, in Nick's 5 yrs he played 64 games, and Les have played 65. Now, both Mac and Gerry had 2 yrs without bowl games and neither played in any SEC titles games. If you add 2 bowl games and 2 sec title games like both Nick and Les had, you come up with a possible 62 games for them in the same 5 yr periods. I don't see much of a difference as to the chance of having 10 win seasons between playing 62 games or 65 games, but each to our own.

As to the OOC schedule, try the likes of Western Carolina, Alabama-Birmingham, Utah St., Middle Tennessee St, Citadel, Miami (OH), Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Western Illinois, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas St. that Nick had on his or Gerry and his Rice, North Texas, New Mexico St., Houston, Tulane, Texas-El Paso, Akron, Arkansas St, Idaho, and San Jose St. Having a few easier games on ones OOC is nothing new to LSU football. imo

You play to win the SEC and hope the chips fall for the NC. Anything less is not always a failure, but people won't be happy.

Failure.

Success at LSU is now measured in Championships. Winning 10 games means going 4-0 against directional schools, 5-3 in the SEC and winning a meaningless Bowl game

If you wish to see the taking part in a major bowl game on New Years Day on national TV when most the college football fan world will be watching as "meaningless" , knock yourself out.
