And manages to lose again to UF, Bama, and either Ole Miss, UT, or Arkansas, does he get fired?

Things would definitely be heated. I think if the 4th losss is to Ole Miss he might be gone. Loosing to them 3 years in a row might push things over the edge.

frick that, they need take Sean Payton from the Saints. Or maybe swoop in and get Belichik. I hear Mike Ditka isn't doing much right now.

Anything better than 4 losses and I would be pleasantly suprised.

Is this what we have come too? Surprised and happy if we win 9 games. How sad and how quickly we have fallen from the national contender ranks. This is becoming Dinardo II except we didn't pay Dinardo $4M each year.

Aim high! Seriously, he's too busy coaching the Saints.

Who else?

Sid Edwards, LSU HC job has to pay more than Central's AD position.

Curly Hallman was recently made available after he and Muscle Shoals high school parted ways last season.

I think he got a bad wrap while he was here and believe he would do wonders with Jefferson. After all, he single handedly made Brett Favre what he is today.

Not to hijack, but who'd you rather that is reasonably suited/approachable? Or maybe not, "who'd you rather," but who'd they get?

At this point, i'm really not sure of any coaches..i haven't really gotten to the point of thinking what coaches would be a good replacement bc i haven't completely ruled out the possibility of miles having a good season and him staying longer.

It could happen..hell, we COULD surprise everyone and go 10-2..we have the talent..coaching? Eh, that's up for debate..Based on what i've seen, Miles PROBABLY won't last much longer..but hell, i really hope he surprises us all..but if not, im guessing he'll be gone in due time and we'll get a better coach..Who that will be i don't know..

I've seen you post this enough to ask...do you really even think that's possible?
To be clear, I'd love it too assuming we had to hire a coach. But I just don't think for a second he would do it. I don't think it's a realistic answer.

For me, if they play well and have exciting games I would enjoy watching them as a 9 win team. Then again I don't rely on them for any kind of validation. I just love watching the Tigers play good football. If they played like they played last year, that would suck even if they won 9 games. Much of that was just not fun to watch.

The season hasn't started. Why the hell not focus on positive thoughts rather than dwell on losing.

Definitely my number one choice should something happen to the current staff.

I guess this makes me the dreaded "positiger", but here goes.

First,

quote:

At this point, i'm really not sure of any coaches..i haven't really gotten to the point of thinking what coaches would be a good replacement bc i haven't completely ruled out the possibility of miles having a good season and him staying longer.

I think it's more probable than possible...but I guess that depends on the definition of "good season".

Second,

quote:

It could happen..hell, we COULD surprise everyone and go 10-2..
It wouldn't surprise everyone...just the vocal minority.

Last,

quote:

but if not, im guessing he'll be gone in due time and we'll get a better coach..

It pretty much never works that way.

Take no offense, just a different point of view.

IMO, this is the first question, not the follow-up.

If you don't have someone in mind, someone within reach (I'm looking at you Lacour), and someone who can recruit as well, develop more consistently, and coach better than Miles, the question you pose is moot.

Miles being fired will not be dependent on the W-L record at the end of the year because of the dynamics at work. There are a number of things that have to play out. For example, if the offense is dreadful through the first 4 games I expect that GC will get the hook (and we would likely be 3-1 or god forbid 2-2). If GC gets the hook, Gonzalez will become the interim OC. Even if BG gets the offense functional, we could still lose to UF and Bama. And even if we start rolling after that, we could get a bad break here or there that costs us a game against Arky or Auburn. So whether Les is fired is really more a matter of how Gonzales fares.

And though you might not like to hear it, even if Gonzales doesn't cut it, there's still a chance that the administration keeps Miles at the end of the season and gives him one last chance to find a new OC.

You may resume ranting now...
