There is a UL, everyone has acknowledged them in this thread.
Why is it the people in Lafayette feel that THEY have more of a right to call their school "UL" than those fine folks up in Monroe do?
I have never been able to get a straight answer on that from anyone from UL-Lafayette.

SLU ...yes.
Stop with the UL bull sh#t. Call them who they are..... ULL....and the answer is no.

Because the school in Lafayette is far superior to the school in Monroe.

I completely lost all respect for ULL back in 2002 when LSU played in a softball regional in Lafayette and I witnessed first hand how nasty the fans were toward Coach Girouard. They even came out on Sunday when LSU was playing Arizona State just to root against her. They called her a traitor, among other not-so-nice things and were just generally bitter that she left there for LSU. All of the monuments to her were taken down. Far be it for them to appreciate the 20 years of hard work she put in to start that program, which happens to be the most nationally competitive and recognized team ULL has. It was that day that I realized for myself what penis-envy those people have for LSU.

Screw ULL.. but as long as Southeastern isn't playing LSU I will root for them, for the simple fact Coach Artigues is from my hometown and he is a DAMN good baseball coach. Maybe LSU should try to hire him as their pitching coach next year.

First of all there is no way that the NCAA keeps LSU out of the baseball tournament. Even if we do get sent to Florida St., Uconn, Rice or wherever else.
Second I wouldn't root for a Tony Robichaux coach team even if that cocky SOB was coaching my sons T-ball team.
Third yes I would root for Southeastern, Tulane, ULM, McNeese, Northewestern St., Southern, Nicholls, Louisiana Tech if any of those state schools made the tournament.

Depending on if and where SLU goes, are you going to see them play in the regional? I am thinking about it, if they are shipped to Oxfart or Southern Miss or somewhere else not too far.

Me too if it is close. I made the trip to Washington for the football game and two trips to Omaha last year and plan on going to Atlanta for the UNC game, so don't want to travel far to see SLU. If it is within a 10 hour drive, I will make the trip to see them. Hope we wrap up the conference title this weekend. I am going to try to go on Friday or Saturday to watch em.

they hit a rough stretch where they were playing around .500 ball...but have picked it back up recenttly playing good ball at the right time. I'm gonna try to make Fri/Sat...go check LSU out on Thurs.

Why would I have cry baby, nyah nyah stuff going on? I have nothing to be envious of. Not your "fine" educational institution, for sure, and definitely not your second rate athletic programs. Now if we were having a "crawfish race," I'm sure you would win that hands down. Face it, you'll never win a football NC or a CWS so don't start your BS until you do.

And to think that they lost 3 games in extra innings. Flip that around and they are 42-11. Not too shabby.

Current RPI is #23, which is a 2 seed at someplace like Texas or Miami. Even though we're horrible right now, the committee will still have to look at the whole season's body of work, which means, worst case (loss to Tulane, swept by MSU, 2 & a Q or no SEC tourney), a #3 seed. Even with a 9 or 11-game losing streak, I think we'd still make the tourney.
But I'd be glad to root for any other local team (Southland, Sun Belt, C-USA, etc.) I was glad to see USM in Omaha last year.

eta: SLU thanks you for your support.
how bad is slu in hindsight. Pretty much the only team LSU has handled during this horrendous 4 week stretch.

I would and will root for SLU.
I think I would root for ULL depending on how far they made it. Not rooting for them because they have a few dickwad fans (as does everyone), is stupid. But honestly it wouldn't break me up if they lost their first postseason game.
If they were in direct recruiting competition with us on a lot of kids, I might not root for them, however.
