Definitely not before signing day. That would be the dumbest thing he could do. The idiots on this board don't realize it, but having staff turnover a month before signing day is a recipe for disaster. Fortunately, our head coach is not an idiot like the people on this board.

Shortly after signing day.

He isn't making a change though. New first year QB this year and a make-shift OL from injuries/players quitting/etc. I think he goes at least one more year witht he current staff and tbh, that's probably the fair thing to do considering all the things that happened this year, evnthough many want a new OC.

I'm thinking recruits can sense restlessness in the air. Seems like if Les is going to make a change, they would want to know who the coach is (at least the offensive recruits).

you could probably make a move next week once the semester starts given that Pocic, Jennings, Rettig and Diarse will be enrolled. Not sure Smith would flip either way, also not sure how the other OL recruits are coming because Stud is the o-line coach.

Has miles fired an assistant before?

Most coaches don't fire assistants they tell them to pursue other jobs.

What if unable to find a job? We're past peak hiring/firing time now.

Idk. Did Mallory or Peveto get fired?

I am hoping for a new OC but I just don't see miles making the right decision. I have no faith that he cares too improve offensively.

No. They got the "Miles transitional track" treatment. But I don't remember the exact conditions during that time. I imagine much has to do with the timing of programs and their hiring needs. We made have just been extremely lucky that year.

SBC, you are either incredibly dumb, blind, or both.

No. Frankly, I can't recall the last time an OC got fired.

Apparently LSU hired Krags on January 20. So we're nearing that anniversary next week.

Mallory and Peveto each landed their new jobs, and we signed Chavis, prior to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Mallory/Peveto coached the bowl game with Chavis waiting in the wings to take over afterward. Chavis' was free in November 2008, as Tennessee did not go to a bowl game that season.

If it's a good coordinator and somebody that Les really likes then pull the trigger if they are available. If its a crappy hire then you have problems all the way around.

Here's a candidate for OC @ LSU.
He's a close personal friend of Les Miles and helped develop Drew Bress and Philip Rivers. Wiki page calls him "one of the winningest OC's in NFL history." He has the credibility to look Miles in the eye and do whats needed to run the offense effectively. Oh....and he's currently available to step in when Miles is ready.
