Thats not the type of special teams we need this year........we need the exact opposite to win the SEC!

i thought Alleman was going to be doing the kickoffs this year, what happened to that

Your worried about a kicker, wow dude.

Agreed, I watched Bastrop play on ESPN U last night and they even had a kid who could kick it into the endzone.

You do understand that high school kicks off from the 40 right? That's an extra 10yds. fricking rantards this morning.

Obviously its not all Miles on this one but man I can go out to any high school put the tee on 35 and say son kick it! If he doesn't put it there 80% of the time, I leave, know what I'm saying! What gives here?
you're right, anyone could do that, even you. however it would take someone with a little more knowledge to accurately gauge the kickers in this scenario, given that we now kick off from the 30....
according to CFBStats, the touchback percentage went from 29% to 12% in college after the line was moved back to the 30 last year. The average landing spot for a kick went from the 6.5 yard line to the 10.25 yard line. LSU opponents starting field position last year was the 29. You would have to do some statistical analysis, but I doubt this accounted for much of anything in terms of score last year.

Les Miles needs to find a punter from what I saw in y'alls first game.

quote:Well, it's not like he hasn't tried...he's got 4 freakin' kickers on scholarships, but the kids haven't performed...is that his fault?
yet we can't find a guy who can boot a kickoff in the endzone......
quote:Yes, but life is full of dissapointments. Concentrate on the kick coverage instead of the kickoffs.
......No one else finds this disappointing?

lets not forget that Alex Russian also sucked up a scholly that year so he could send out some high snaps on kicks.

Uhh yea, you fricking prick! The kid was also 3 fricking years younger than the guy who kicks for LSU. Don't be such a fricking dick in the morning.

Miles is doing this on purpose to see how many times 22 can make a tackle. The special team told Miles to kick it short so they could show the fans their talent....I personally like it better to see these plays......

whats the difference between touchbacks starting at the 20, and kicking to the 10 while bringing them down at the 20?

Drew Alleman (the other #38) kicked off for Acadiana High last year. In game vs STM he put three kickoffs through the uprights. LSU had Wade Ritchey, who was a great high school kicker, and managed to turn him into a mediocre kicker. I agree with the hang time on kickoffs but if you can put the ball deep into the endzone then you have at least one more second "hang time" since the returner will take at least one second to exit the endzone. I say give Alleman a shot and see what happens. It can't hurt!

A kid from Denham Springs, Josh Lewis kicked a 57-yard field goal against East Ascension Thursday night which is a state record. Are we recruiting him? Can any of the LSU kickers hit a 57 yarder? With that kind of leg I bet he could at least hit the end zone on kickoffs.

We offer 2 kickers last year. None of them can do it. We offer one this year after offering 2 last year.

if we get good hang time on kick offs..thats all we need. we gave VERY good coverage units.
However, a punter is really needed. that is a much more direct difference in field position.
