Jimbo isn't going anywhere.. he has to win 1-2 games a year at FSU to make the playoffs / title game. Why would he give that up along with the suck fest that FSU gets from the media when they are playing well to come to the brutal SEC?

Plus its well known Jimbos wife hated Baton Rouge.

You think we shouldn't ask Saban?

Of course we should ask but there is 0 chance he is leaving bama. If people want miles gone because they are delusional that saban will come back..

Yeah, the circus Bozo's that have made Sunshine Pumping a fine art form are of that opinion.

Coaching wise, of course he could be replaced. (And just think of the immediate offensive improvement) The problem is I have no confidence that Joe Alleva could make a hire to our satisfaction, expectations and demands.

All the speculation is moot though. Miles isn't going anywhere.

Of course I don't think he would come back, but you have to ask.

FWIW, he was coming back in 2007 before the shite hit the fan with Les.

Chip Kelly's offense with the defense would be interesting

Jim Tressel you could get for cheap. Good hire. Would be able to Lure the Talent out of Ohio

first of all I don't think Miles goes to ARK but if was indeed offered near 6MIL and wants the cash I don't think we should match

500K raise and another 500K in asst pool and some big $$$ bonus stuff for winning SECCG, winning BCSCG/new playoff system games, getting to BCS bowls, and other bonus $$ for graduating players, keeping players out of arrest reports

If he wants the 6M up front and not the chance to get there thru bonuses let him walk and try to recruit from the ARKY base

As for candidates there are several, while the BoS has changes and whether I like it or not there are $$ people connected to Saban in LA and if there is an opening someone will make contact to feel him out. I don't think it would be good for LSU or Saban tho.

Other guys have been mentioned here

Jimbo
Muschamp
Patterson
Petersen

for one reason or another would be my A+ list

Petrino
Butch Davis
Jim Tressel

would be A- list if not for personal/NCAA issues

Then there are up and comers like

Shaw
Strong
Briles
Gundy
Sarkisian
Pelini

may work out may not guys like

James Franklin
Rich Rod
Tubberville
Leach
Mora
Smart
Malzhan

I am sure there are others. LSU is bigger than any one coach, bigger than Saban, bigger than Miles, there is always a risk when you have to make a hire, but if we conduct the search if necessary in the proper manner we can continue if not improve upon the success we have had

remember we hired a .500 coach from Mich State and a .500 coach (in B12 games) from OSU and those hires got us where we are today

We would stand no chance with Gruden, so just stop. LSU isn't going to look to pay a coach with no college experience that ~$5 million dollar salary that he'd cost. If they would, they would just pay that to Miles.

LSU buys low and sells high. We would get some guy that most here wouldn't be happy with. Trust me you guys don't want Miles gone, not when you see who we'd get here in his place.

agreed im torn on matching if arky wants to over pay for les miles.

I dont think he would do much better arky than he did with okie state. Also im not sure we should pay him over 5 million a year until we see a second title.

The only issue is joe alleva running a coaching search is a fricking mess. If I knew we would get a good hire like patterson, petterson, mullen then id be ok with it but i could see joe botching it.

Heartbreak

I agree and have little faith in Alleva but unlike the basketball search, $$ types for better or worse (in this case I think for the better will have a say TAF will not rubber stamp any Alleva process made in a vacuum and there is no way to get any coach or a raise for Les w/o TAF $$)

No guarantee that process will get best guy but Alleva will have short leash.

I have no problem seeing Les get paid and said in my post 500k seems reasonable with bonus $$ if he wins championships to get to or exceed what Arky is offering

But if he wants the money as base pay not in incentives let him walk and see if he can recruit to Fayetteville with that small recruiting base. No one has been able to yet. Not Holtz, Petrino not equal to even what Dinardo did here. It's a tough place to recruit to and the fans there are as demanding as they are here.
