That curve ball to the man who hasn't researched could also be called a splitter or even one hellacious circle change. The point I'm trying to make is that the announcers are doing their best off of the information given and the OP is bitching about some truly trivial shite considering we just beat the number 3 overall draft pick to go up 1-0 in the super regionals.

Well a curve ball breaks sharply down and away from a righty (from a righty), while a splitter breaks straight down in the last 6 feet and has similar velocity to a fastball and a circle change breaks down and into a righty with about 10-15 mph dif in velo from the fastball while having the same rotation so I have no idea what in the hell youre talking about.

LOL at this guy comparing the #3 draft pick and a future first rounder's pitches to his kid's hook.

Lol again!

Right they base what they think a pitch is only on movement and not spin, velocity, or anything else. reading threads like these are always great for a good laugh.

Think he's laughing at the fact that the OP thinks he knows more about what a pitch is than the most knowledgeable announcer and college baseball and also thinks a slider can't break down.

Technically it's a breaking ball because it breaks low and away from lefties, but it's never usually referred to as a breaking ball in a broadcast.

That the op is basing the comparison of pitch movement by using his little leaguer son's curveball movement to two future pro ballers pitch movement. Yeah, they are likely extremely close to the same action.

Congratulations you know fundamental baseball....

Now go get in the press box and identify everyone of those pitches in real time with only a seconds delay......

You should be making mils by now with your talent.

I agree. The TV analyst has no idea. Appears most of the guys in this room tonight have never really seen the difference between a hard slider and great curve ball.

They have no idea there are six different fastballs.

Yup, they no doubt have a tough job from their vantage point trying to figure out what the pitch is. They do have monitors though, and those monitors do show the live game feed just as we see it along with the velocity so they should call it right about 95% of the time, which they do. It's not that difficult.

Wait, aren't you the OP that said sliders don't break on 2 planes or more that a foot?

4-seam, 2-seam, split, cut...that's all I got. Unless something new was invented in the last few hours...
