If I’m Woody you go to the league office TONIGHT and drag Sankey to the state game. Every time one of those frickers rings the bell during an unapproved time you have Sankey call down to the officials to have a flag thrown. That’s the only way you prove the point and stop the illegal noise maker BS.. time for Woody to nut up and drag his couyons over Starkvegas.

If I’m Woody I’d call out the wimpy fans who whine about cowbells.

I'm pretty sure the NCAA outlaws any artificial noisemaker, and somehow the cowbells get a pass.

The cowbells aren't really a big deal unless you're a fan sitting near the State student section. Gonna be a lot of hearing loss among their fans through the years.

Speaking of nutting up quit acting like you have a Mahjina and crying over cowbells, I bet you were a hall monitor in school.

Woody doesn’t have that type of pull at the league office and your suggestion would make him look like a bitch like you.

Each SEC school hosting MSU should bring in cowbells or other noise makers. Infact, after the fan group from one school buys them, the should ship them to MSU next opponent. Let them get annoyed with that crap.

IIRC, OP also started a thread during the CWS, saying Woody should call the NCAA and refuse to play a college world series game because it was on ESPN2 and not ESPN.

I beg to differ.

I have made the MSU trip for several LSU games, sit in seats sold through LSU and never fail to have people around me ringing those damn things. Quite annoying.

I have never understood how this doesn't violate the artificial noisemaker rule?

Do they officially have an exception, or do the officials just ignore it?

Take it up with the SEC Constitution and Bylaws and the Commissioner's Regulations.

Pages 31-32: Bylaw 30.22.1.5 Playing Conditions. Short version is the host campus can use their traditional noisemaker. I don't see it in the document, but I would guess an institution has to show there's a long-standing tradition behind the noisemaker.

LINK

Page 59: Commissioner's Regulations for Football.

quote:

Penalties for Violations - Violations of SEC Bylaw 30.22.1.5 c and/or d shall be evaluated following the season
for the imposition of fines as follows: 1P
stP offense: an institutional fine of $5,000; 2P
ndP offense: an institutional fine
of up to $25,000; 3P
rdP or subsequent offense: an institutional fine of up to $50,000.

So, ringing after the center touches the ball is not a flaggable offense at this time. As an objective MSST fan, I would prefer if the refs would issue a warning for the first offense (a real offense; not a smattering of bells still ringing by those who refuse to comply) and then be able to flag it for 15 yards and automatic first down. Rules are rules.

This seems like advice you need to give to the guy in the mirror.

This is what makes college football so fun! Cowbells, pink visitor locker rooms, bands parked under direct sunlight in the upper decks, live tigers next to visitor locker rooms, fans yelling STTDB, etc.

It's pretty simple in my mind, put up 40 early and they take thier stupid bells to the house.
