If he doesn't win the starting job, which is looking more and more likely, I hope he sticks around for depth. An injury or inconsistent play by either of the others would thrust him into immediate action.

Brennan is well aware of the stakes
Jobs are earned, not given
He had his opportunity in 2020 but got hurt
He would have started over Johnson last year if not for his injury
If he gets beat out again, than that means the other player is better
The named starter still has to go out and perform to keep his job and that's how it will play out

Interesting that it appears Haynes King will start at A&M over Johnson

Whoever it is, LSU will be better than what they've had under center the past two seasons

He should have transferred when he first went into the portal. It was a terrible mistake to come back to lsu, I really hope it wasn’t pushed by Kelly, Now he will have to scramble to find a new home. Hopefully it’s something he is familiar with.

dude could also just realize football isn't his future, felt it'd just be better to stay semi famous in BR for one more year and enjoy the college scene just a bit longer

This is my point. Kelly encouraged him to stay.

He’s been at LSU. He’s gone through the Orgeron years. He could have left last year but stayed. No Daniel’s isn’t an LSU boy….after a year maybe so. When Saban was here he started Marcus Randall his senior year his senior year because Randall had paid his dues. I’m not saying Brennan should start all year. But I would start him 1st game to reward him.

They are all LSU boys. Just because Myles hasn’t been able to win a job after a decade on campus doesn’t make him more deserving. This is big business, leave your feelings at the door

But he dropped out of the portal. He stayed

It’s not like he stayed and spurned a bunch of great offers. He didn’t have a ton of options when he hit the portal, thus he became open to the idea of coming back

Myles will play this year at some point if he stays and he should. This is the SEC. Coaches don’t have luxury to call it a rebuilding year. Nussmeier at this point has a better upside than Brennan. He is still raw and probably will make a ton of mistakes. Those mistakes will give way to us seeing Daniels. If Daniels play is like his last year at ASU then we see Brennan. If we have a great O-line and a great back Brennan would be the better choice for success but that is not the case. Nussmeier bridges the gap between the two. Whoever the QB is will have to execute the offense. If not next man up!

I think most of us would Love Myles to start and have a first team all Sec type season. But the reality is the QB that gives us the best chance to win each game must take the snaps. We are paying Brian Kelly and his staff an unfathomable amount of money because we all agree they will be able to find that QB.

people may disagree, but I think it's likely that Kelly did push hard for him to come back.

Kelly isn't the try of coach to leave things up to chance. When Kelly took the job as the head coach, the QB room was empty besides Nuss, who was a true freshman and a question mark. A very talented question mark.

Brennan was the safe play for Kelly to bring some stability back to the QB room. He didn't know what he had with Nuss, and had no idea if he would be able to grab talented QB out of the portal.

As we have heard/seen, Nuss has made big strides in the off season and Kelly was able to grab a talented dual threat QB.

From all accounts this now leaves Myles on the outside looking in.

I've resorted to just 'trusting the coaches' on this one.

I think Brennan has potential to be a dominant QB but like the other two guys as well.

They won't all start the FSU game but one thing for sure is they will all get their shot.
