Then why back in 1969 we played Auburn in tiger stadium and your cheerleaders and fans were calling your team the plainsmen and after they shouted Go Plainsmen they shouted War Eagle? That game was a day game and it was televised. I was a soph. at LSU back then and I always heard about Alabama. I swear to God, that until we played Auburn that year, I never heard of your school and was shocked as hell that Auburn was located in Alabama. I guess that when the two schools seldom played each other, that led to the ignorance of both fanbases.

I couldn't answer that. ...Although my dad was a student at Auburn University in 1969, I will ask him what he remembers.

Auburn officially changed the name of the university in 1960 (from Alabama Polytechnic Institute) to Auburn University. ...maybe that played a part in you not being familiar with the name at that time??
