Just got the #1 spot for seemingly the first time since 78 (I know, but you get the point) to quell the deep desperation that Bama fan suffered since the death of grizzly leader.

Now, they have to take their shiny new ranking into the den of a wounded animal with a personal vendetta, a better roster, and nothing to lose. outside of another six-loss season, this is as scary as it gets for a Bama fan.

I'm with you on this. Honestly, I think their number one ranking is about the worst thing they needed going into this game!

If that's the case, then I wish he was coaching our boys, because that makes him a damn good coach.

Shula couldn't win with them.

What would you call the situation that UGA walked into after what UF did to us?

"It is just a flesh wound!"

Here's something that is sort of ridiculous:

At no time during Nick Saban's five magical years at LSU were the Tigers voted #1 by ANY poll during the regular season, and here we are 22 games into the Nick Saban era at Alabama and they are #1 in all polls.

What is incredibly funny is that Alabama has only 2 hard games on their schedule this year (unless you count Auburn and Miss St, which I don't) and they could be undefeated and playing for the SEC Championship at #1 and get thoroughly blown out by Florida.

Who has Alabama faced this year that is a challenging opponent? LSU and UF also exposed UGA's defense.

Who else...Tulane?

Bama's season starts this week. Remember 2005? They were 9-0 and #3 heading into a home date with LSU. This year ain't much different, folks.

Shula went 10-3 in 2005 with his players.

apples and oranges when you throw in the LSU-Alabama history and Nick Saban factors. LSU will be breathing fire. They also match up much better against Bama than UGA.

If, big if, Bama doesn't get in the red zone off of interceptions or fumbles, LSU wins this game.

Technically if you want to play the " Someone else's players game"

The 2005 Bama team would have been Franchione's players.
Bama's defense had 8 NFL players on it that were recruited in 2001 and 2002 before Shula got there.

Both of which matter to the fans...most of the players? Not so much.

Dude we are undefeated right now. Sure we have played in some close games, but come on, we deserve the ranking until we get beat!

I don't know about that. Y'all have ONE quality win and they have TWO losses now. Texas Tech may be slightly more deserving right now.

Alabama is number one because of the light schedule they have played this year so far - the SEC is down - and they don't play Florida in the regular season. Also, the parity in college football over the last few years means whoever gets to #1 during the regular season usually doesn't stay there very long. The trend favors LSU this weekend. LSU has just as much talent and more depth that Bama - the Tigers just need to put a good game together - which I predict they will. GEAUX TIGERS!

I gotta agree with crimsoncutie on this one. You can't punish bama for playing there schedule. At the beginning of the season, I think it was ranked the 3rd hardest or something like that.

It's not bama's fault that Clemson started sucking, UT sucks, Auburn sucks and UGA is inconsistent.

We've played 2 top 10 teams at the time of the game (Clemson and UGA).
Teams play the schedule they are given, it's just the way it is.

No!

The irony of LSU fans telling another team they don't belong in the title game. Please see last season where you guys went to the NC game because no one else apparently wanted to.

Why would the LSU-Alabama history matter to them when most of them weren't even playing varsity HS football last time Bama beat LSU?

Why would Nick Saban as a coach matter to most of them when there is only one player on the team that was here when Nick Saban was a coach?
