Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had really bad years at QB. But its the level of badness that’s starting to be exagerrated beyond truth.
“LSU’s never had a good qb in my life” type shite.
“Most mismanaged position in history of college football
LSU has not recruited a QB right out of high school that has been anything better than serviceable since 2003!!!!
The 2 best QBs in the last 15 years were both transfers.
It’s not hyperbole and it can’t be understated just how bad QB recruiting and development has been this century.

Scheme could be part of the issue too, when 80% of your called throws are long PA throws it's probably not going to look very well for many QBs.

Jennings was better than Harris to me. Harris was just a tard with a strong arm and couldn’t throw it in the ocean from the beach.

Mett was elite in 2013, pretty average in 2012

Who are you talking about
Ok I wasn’t clear.
Since the 2003 recruiting class, we have had jack shite at QB with the exception of Mettenberger and Etling. And Etling didn’t exactly set the world on fire but he was better than the rest.
To make it clearer. Nick Saban was the head coach at LSU the last time we hit on a QB recruit out of high school.

Soooo where would Matt Mauck be categorized in this?.. surely you didn't forget the national championship winning QB huh?

JJ is now “mediocre”?? The fact that JJ is considered better than any other quarterback at LSU in the past 10 years is as damning as it gets.

Jordan Jefferson was not bad. He was bad the night we needed him most though.

No it’s not. In the last 20 years, we’ve had like 5 really good QB seasons
Rohan 2001
Mauck 2003
Jamarcus 2006/2005
Mettenberger 2013
Rohan 2001
Mauck 2003
Jamarcus 2006/2005
Mettenberger 2013

Flynn wasn’t good in 2007

Mettenberger was not great, he was not elite. He had a really good 2013 season but he was not good for most of the 2012 season. He was awful against Texas a&m, Florida, and Clemson. He had a really good 4 game stretch from bama-arkansas but at best I would say 2012 was average.
So I would classify him in the good category.

I’m not disagreeing, but why single out JJ?
He was better than Lee.
Their passing numbers were basically identical with JJs being slightly better:
58.6% 7.0 ypa 34 20 127.8 Rating
56.1% 7.0 ypa 32 21 126.1 Rating
But JJ at least had the ability to make and extend plays running the ball, over 1,000 yards and 12 TDs in his career, which Lee couldn’t do to save his life.
Outside of 1/9, yes, JJ was a mediocre, not bad, QB for LSU.
