How do you know Lee isn't the next Brandon Cox or John Parker Wilson? He hasn't been able to separate himself from Hatch so where does your confidence come from? Either Hatch must be better than people give him credit for, or Lee isn't as good as people think. Any other conclusion has got to be based on wishful thinking rather rational observation.

Both of those two QB's could potentially led this team to a NC

It wont take much with the talent we have, but you HAVE to have a downfield passing threat. You could argue that neither has proved that much so far bc of lack of PT.

I dont care who the QB is, as long as they dont handicap the offense.

and BTW who is to say that J Lee wont be the next Sam Bradford? Hell, i think he could be better (not statistically, but as a prospect)

Hatch could be the next Craig Krenzel. Who knows.

Is this really a problem? Most offenses are predicated on staying out of 3rd and long situations. If the defense is as strong as we think it will be, the smart decision is to play it safe and if you don't make it, let the defense take over. Besides, with the "best WR's in the nation", you don't need to throw the ball deep ... just get the ball in their hands and let them make something happen.

we are being very optimistic if we believe that to be the case. FLA state has had some stud WR's over the past few years who haven't had a decent QB to get them the ball.

What we've got to understand is that 3rd and long is a big part of the game in the SEC. People forget about holding penalties and whatnot. Not even our stacked offense can rely on running the abll 3 times for 20 yards to get a first down.

I'm only saying this so we are not dilusional about what kind of offense this will be. This isn't BYU and this isn't the Mountain West.

Once again, who are you to say how great a 'downfield' passer Hatch is? The only people that know are Miles and Crowton, so why don't you shut up and deal with it. Hatch may have the best deep ball of anyone we've seen in the last 2 decades. Every tigerfan knows that Flynn didn't have the best deep ball and Russell didn't have the best touch on short throws, but they both got it done so we'll see.

Lee will be the starter by Auburn. He is as good as half the SEC qb's now.

Whatever you say coach. If it's 3rd and long, and you're relying on connecting on the deep ball, you'll be disappointed a vast majority of the time. BTW ... I'm fairly certain that Hatch can throw the ball 25 yards. If we're forcing the ball down the field on 3 and 30, I can almost guarantee something bad will happen, regardless who the QB is.

I think we should line up Holiday under center. Then let him run QB sneaks under Big Herm's legs.

no shite, but with what velocity? DB's don't just sit around and leave passing lanes open all day.

we need lee--is hatchs scrambling ability more valuable than lees arm? i dont think so. lees not imobile. lees strong, accurate arm with decent scrambling is better than hatchs great scrambling and a weak arm. Presence? hatch isnt a 4 yr starter with great presence, and lee will get more and more. We can have jj run the option and we already have a running game. lees arm is way better than flynns. if he gets going after the 1st 3 games, we might have a star. We only needed flynn to win a nc. This is lees 2nd yr, not 1st. even without playing experience, he still is a step up from true a freshman and has learned the playbook. look wht sam bradford did as a true freshman. Screw the harvard smarts. Give me this playmaker that can actually utilize byrds speed and tollivers talent when he doesnt underthrow them.

this will keep people from stacking the box on the run also.
---disagree all u want but i dont think hatchs upside is that great. And his only attribute is that he can manage the game? says who? he might not manage anything. Overall lee is better for our offense. i hope whoever plays is great but i just dont see it with hatch.

So basically the person who started this thread and everyone that agrees with him wants Hatch to suck, fail and lose so Lee can get the starting position. So what you are saying is you want a good qb as long as Hatch isn't the good qb.

Makes a lot of sense.

the Auburn game we're in trouble.

I just don't think Hatch is an SEC caliber starter for a championship team.
