I think the bottom line is that Les Miles sold his soul to the devil in exchange for Ws on the field.

Its pretty much the only thing that makes sense at this point.

The bottom line is simply an outcome: LSU won and is 6-0.

Except maybe there's a reason we haven't been able to crack the top ten so far despite the wins. Why does every major sports media outlet struggle not to crack up when talking about Miles? Why is he asked about the nickname "Mad Hatter" postgame? Why would Meyer refuse to answer a question about Miles and then feel compelled to say "No disrespect." Because that's the obvious interpretation - he has nothing respectful to say.

Wins are great, but it would be nice to be respected too.

I do realize that but as much as you point out ways we could have lost there are several instances you can point to say the games could have been blowouts in lsu's favor. Bottom line, we won those games. We are undefeated and potentially on our best start in 40 years how about enjoying that instead of always looking glass half empty. Enjoy the ride. These tigers are fun to watch this year.

you just hit on a good point Roger....this team definitely improved over the week from the Tennessee game. There is no question that solid work was done by the coaching staff to get the team ready, but for the love of God they need to start rolling with the flow of the game and stop the QB shuffle EXACTLY as planned beforehand

I agree it's not perfect and I still have doubts about some things. I wasn't as negative as some of the people, but certainly expressed doubts about this coaching staff many times on here.

But at this point of the season you gotta admit the defense is definitely for real, the offensive line is improved, LSU can come from behind and win a game and can beat quality opponents. I can admit this is a much improved team over the past two seasons. LSU has a great opportunity to win the SEC West. I gave it a zero shot several weeks ago.

but they weren't. in miles' tenure these are very rare

if you could blowout teams consistently, and you essentially never do, then there is a huge problem

if we're going to win the national title, at some point we will have to play on a higher level than "just barely beating a top 30 team"

instead of always looking glass half empty

this is a season, not a collection of individual weeks

if we want to beat auburn, arkansas, and bama we still have a long ways to go

frustrating. we could beat opponents better and look so much better in the process. that's a fun team

Where is max wrong? He predicts we will get blown out pretty much every game and shits on anytime someone predicts victory or posts something positive about the team. You can't defend him on that slow. His shtick is wearing thin with lots of people on here.

At this point, that is highly subjective and dependent on the individual fan. Last nights game was fun as hell, one of the first in a while.

last night was frustrating. UF should have never been in that game and we needed a miracle to win

I'm not looking through your post history and sift through all that hate, piss and vinegar you post in every thread. I know how you post.

you would be looking at a glass two thirds full and calling it empty. There is no game that any team plays, ever that isn't going to be frustrating to a fan or two on some level. If last night was frustrating, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe there would be an outcome under Miles that would satisfy you, ever.

Seems like you will never be happy with a win then. Your miles hate is blinding you. You need to just enjoy the games man.

First Half. Second half was a special teams nightmare. Add to that the offensive inconsistency and musical QBs. Not fun at all after halftime really.

i know how you post too. whine about others' alleged "whining" and never actually talk about football. Insist that anyone who dislikes Les can not enjoy LSU wins, hates LSU, is a pussy etc. Cool stuff, dorm legend.

One return was a nightmare? First one of the year. Special teams are solid, so is the defense. I still have problems with some coaching decisions but outside of that, this is a vastly improved team.

If you can't agree that this is an improved team, then you choose to ignore the obvious. I personally think Miles coaching faux pas will catch up to him some day, but I don't think it will happen this year. I don't see the tigers losing half the remaining games.

they look top 20-40, so likely

but once you get into the 30+ range, you're irrelevant when trying to compare SOS to me. CFB is a tiered sport

You mentioned earlier in the thread that rankings at game time are irrelevant - I agree. However, that means you can't judge a team until the end of the season. UF could easily finish 12 and back in th etop ten at the end of the season. We won't REALLY know how much of an accomplishment it was, but UF, under any circumstances, doen't lose often at home.

quote:

they got serious issues this year

I don't know, serious issues for Florida are not competing for a title - and they're not out of it yet. And even then, it's a pretty high standard.
quote:

the 2002 and 2004 tigers won in the swamp

Yes, they did. Those wins plus this one are the 3 the Tigers have won down there in the last 25 years. They were also Saban vs Zook, not Miles vs Meyer.
quote:

if you want to crown them, crown their asses

Why jump to hyperbole?

I won't crown them until they win a championship game.

I just don't think it's much fun to diminish a big mid-season win for the program that everyone was chaulking up as a loss in the preseason.

You want to get all worried about the LSU coaching staff?

Okay...

I wrote "ish". If he's not there, he's close. And "you don't think" doesn't mean much.

quote:

we replaced monty with adams or mingo, who are both faster

maybe, maybe not, but Montgomery was the starter at his spot, where Mingo/Adams usually share time at the other DE spot. So this doesn't prove anything. We were missing a key starter at DE. They were missing a running back. It's a wash.

quote:

and demps is too fast for that. it's LB/S responsibility

As I said before, containment is one of the DEs responsibility. Monty frequently chases runners down the sideline and prevents them from getting the edge. That he would likely require LB/S support w/Demps doesn't change anything.

You haven't refuted anything effectively. The point still stands. Saying their best player was out is not a good excuse when we were missing a good player, too.

Yup. Mine and most other people.

bottom line

You don't know and can't prove what Demps would've done. So, you should stop trying to defend this point.

...and from your post to another poster

quote:

it is what it is. an expected win

We were expected to lose to Florida by almost everyone, including the talking heads and Vegas. It was absolutely in no way an expected win. McNeese is an expected win.

C'mon, I give you credit for being smarter than these posts. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing. There are plenty of legit things to criticize and you're missing those opportunities by trying to defend your position in these clearly wrong opinions... your stubbornness is starting to remind me of Miles' stubbornness in keeping JJ in game. tsk.
