What?? That's a Beech 18. In fact, just from what I can see there, looks like it might be a WW2 leftover. Nice plane. LOOOONNNNGGG operational period.

It was Jimmy Field and Bo Campbell. Verified by Jimmy Field. See message from Jimmy below:
The man on my left was a fine quarter miler (beat me and everyone else in the NORD MEET OF CHAMPIONS IN N.O.)
who ran for Byrd Hi, played HB on the GO Team, and was a good player and person. His name is Bo Campbell.
I do not recognize the others as they must have played at other schools or I would recognize them.
Bo and I spoke at a school in No. LA that night. May have been Jena High.
