I miss Neck in Tiger Stadium

I like it better without the vulgarity. Maybe the students will come up with something more clever to sing along.

When I listen to that video, I can’t tell if a few folks are indeed saying STTDB, or if it’s just my subconscious playing tricks on me.

It once was a great addition to the Tiger band’s repertoire. Once the late 20’s-30’s individuals who got the networks to put pressure on LSU to stop it grow up, Neck will die for good. A grown man in his later 30’s-40’s with a business, responsibilities, young children, etc won’t be screaming STTDB in public. It happened for a few years while you were in college. We get it. It’s gone. Grow up.

This x 1000. When the band started playing it, before the childish, vulgar chant, it was awesome. Usually was at a big moment in the game and everyone was waving their hands. Now it is cringeworthy and probably won’t get played again because of the stupid chant.

I’m conflicted on this. I’d usually prefer if the students would ditch the chant, but would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy how it triggered the frick out of Clemson fans. Poor little ole Clemson fans’ virgin ears were violated by TTD.

I have to ask if it’s still just the students chanting it? Watching the video of the alumni band on Bourbon Street, most of the fans chanting it in that video looked too old to be college students.

If students and fans are going to chant vulgarities to whatever the band plays, then I’d rather the band play the best songs possible. Nothing pumps up the crowd or the players for that matter more than Neck.

Lastly, can the SEC fine LSU the $250k (or however much the fine is) if the students/fans do the chant to other songs or is the fine only levied if the band plays that particular song?

Can LSU and ESPN figure out a way for the TV audio to pick up the music but not the chant?

I’d like it to be played, and if students are chanting to whatever is played, then the fine is the only thing preventing it from happening if it is only issued when the band plays that particular song.

Can Woodward work out something with the SEC to eliminate the fine as long as LSU and ESPN take steps to ensure that the chant isn’t heard on TV? Obviously there’s nothing they can do to censor it for everyone in the stadium.

Who takes credit for coming up with STTDB? Has anyone claimed it? Had to be one person and it took off from there.
