I can't speak for Jackson. He looks good in pads and was a heat-seeking missile in high school, but Spears is completely lost when he is out there. I think they gave up on it clicking for him this season, but after Saturday, it may be time to revisit personnel. The same guys, time and again, are coming up short for you on both sides of the ball.
Safety play has been bottom of the league for the past two years.

When you have no dominant defensive tackles and safety play is trash, the middle of the field is constantly open, for both runs and passes.
How many third and longs get converted on us with a quick slant over the middle?
How many times have backs and quarterbacks just ran right up the middle, made Ryan, Gilbert, or Burns miss, and house it?

I haven’t been as down on Burns as most people, but I was fuming watching him jog around half-arse after the game got out of hand. For a guy who is supposedly a leader, that’s a terrible fricking look.
