We start our #1 pitcher, and they start a RHP.

I’m pretty confident that we even the series tomorrow.

I’m more concerned about Monday, where on paper they have a big-time pitching advantage. Then again, post-season baseball isn’t played on paper.

And for anyone wondering, I’m as pissed and disappointed as any of us are about today’s outcome. However I’m not ready to cede the series because they beat us in a game we should have won.

A competitor fights until the end. Obviously, I’m not playing, but I guarantee that at a minimum a majority of our players have the same or similar mindset to my own. They’ll fight tomorrow and I expect a win.

As for Monday, let us all pray to the baseball gods that they may smile upon us on that day, provided we survive to play another day.

I thought people said we would have the pitching advantage if we got to Monday? Lets just hope we can get to Monday got to win tomorrow first.

They have their best pitcher throwing tomorrow.

Not really. I think Monday would be advantage LSU more than tomorrow will be.

I can’t speak for whoever said that, maybe they have good rationale.

But their Sunday starter’s numbers are much better than Walker’s and it’s not close. But we’ve seen Walker throw 7 innings of 1-run ball before against top competition, so no reason to think he can’t do it again.

I just hope he gets the chance.

This worked out just the way FSU had planned. They threw their lefty for the match up and saved their ace for game 2.

I disagree, but you are consistent in that your thoughts are well articulated and are logically sound, so have an upvote and let’s agree to disagree while hoping for the same outcome.

Parrish has been their Friday night starter all season long.

Van Eyck has a better ERA, but he actually has more walks and less strikeouts than Parrish.

Parrish has ace stuff and is a lefty.

Looking at his season and career numbers as a whole, his ERA this year is an anomaly.

Last season his ERA was 2.52 in 107 innings of work. This year, his WHIP, K’s per 9 innings and pretty much every other pitching stat would suggest an ERA closer to 3.00-3.50 than 5.07.

I haven’t watched them enough to explain the discrepancies.

In any case, I’d rather face the RHP 1A than the LHP 1B from their rotation.

ETA: Excellent post Broski. I totally agree.

Are you implying that Martin out coached Mainieri?

they start a true ace tomorrow, glad he is a righty but it will be very hard to beat him...if we don't come out with fire, we lose...we were sorta stagnant today...

They threw their normal Friday night guy in game 1. They didn't do anything differently to try to out smart LSU.

Op I hope you’re right. I hate the thought of getting swept in our own stadium by the semen holes.

I always thought these first two games would be pretty evenly matched, and hard fought games. Either game can go either way, with the right breaks. My worry is that tonight Mainieri mismanaged it and blew our chance at winning, and if it doesn't swing our way tomorrow we are done. If we get to Monday, I have always felt good. However, it's baseball and anything can happen.

Ok, I'll bite, what have you seen from him that makes him a "true ace" compared to Parrish?

And don't use wins as a reason. That's the most bullshite stat for pitchers ever.

Indeed. Every game from here on out will be tough.

Marceaux the past five or six weeks has been a legit ace or very close to it. Since their starter is a righty (and thus Cabrera is a threat in the lineup) I like our chances.

Our lineup can hit righties much better than lefties (assuming equal talent from both).

Don’t count the Tigers out just yet.
