but is LSU slow?
It seems like our running backs are very slow, in and out of the hole. Watching bama last night made me realize how hard they hit the hole. Also, it seems like bama's defensive line was considerably faster than ours. I don't want to sing the same song about coaching, but it just makes you wonder. Could it be because I watch LSU play every week or are we actually "slower" than other teams. Even in some of the smaller bowls. I suppose we have good "track", or straight line speed. We are just lacking "football" speed, and instincts,
And coaching....sorry, had to throw it in there

"against contrary belief"
sounds like something i heard in philosophy class.
in response to your question though: i think we looked slower because it took so damn long to setup our runs.

i think we were slow this year due to most of the guys not knowing what to do on offense ie: thinking too much. I believe we have as good if not better athletes than bama they just aren't being coached and used properly.

thank you! I just posted that it seems as though our running plays take for ever to get going.
It's gotta be coaching!!!
Give me More BAMM as in emerald and Bamm!

I think we worry about fumbling too much. They knew if they fumbled, they would rot on the bench. Too scared of screwing up.

ok, about the fumbling...you should be scared shitless of fumbling the ball. Works for me. However......
it all comes down to simplification. We have young but talented players. Take thinking out of the equation and let those boys lose lol

the play of the qb helps running backs... even the hand off is a give away for the tigers... we have to have a smarter qb

I think it has to do with the Bama backs being confident the hole will open up, so they hit the hole at full speed.
This year our backs were slow to the hole because it generally was not there so they either ran up someones back or tried to cut to the outside and were tackled in the backfield.
I think its a confidence issue with RB's and line. Not lack of speed with the RB's.

That's is really good analysis. It makes sense, our O-Line was atrocious this year. One of the worst I have seen in a while. Ciron Black will not be an impact player in the NFL. Can you imagine Dwight Freeny, Demarcus Ware, and Julius Peppers burning his arse?

All teams appear slow if they don't know their assignments. If they have to think before they react, they are beat.

I like your enthusiasm, but I'm afraid we actually WILL show them how slow we are...
