No matter what you think about Jefferson, he has been a far better QB than Crowton has been an OC.

Oh my God. Really?
Let's say Crowton has a 1,000 page playbook. If his QB only has the mental ability to understand 10 pages, then the other 990 are USELESS.
Crowton could have the greatest offensive plan in the world, but if the QB can't grasp it, it doesn't mean jack. He therefore has to revert to the 10 pages that the QB does know and try to make an offense around that.
At least that's how I view the situation. Thoughts?
1) First of all, you need to read the 2007 article from the Oregon fan.
2) You're claiming 3 or more QBs are not grasping Crowton's 1,000 page playbook. Again. I suggest you read that article before you belittle our players. The Oregon fan confidently claimed that Crowton would make LSU's talented players look bad. Here's a few quotes back from Jan 18, 2007..........
"It looks like Crowton is following my advice by getting out of Eugene. He needs to make sure to stay at LSU for only one year. Most likely he won’t. I want LSU fans to know why Gary Crowton is going to cause you pain when he stays more than one year."
"Crowton runs a version of the spread offense. When he gets a new job, his first year has been great."
"LSU has great athletes and he will find a way to make them look bad."
"They didn’t have most of their best players playing because of injuries. Crowton failed to take advantage of his highly athletic receivers. Instead he was worrying about which quarterback to play on which down."
"Be ready for an undisciplined offense that fails to make any adjustments-during the game or season."
"LSU will probably have a great year with their athletes. They will score a lot of points. But don’t expect them to stay that way. Not with Crowton as the offensive coordinator. The numbers don’t lie."

No matter the mental capacity of the team.. it's still the OC's job to pick the "10 best pages."
Judging by JJ's severe drop in production this year over last, Crowton chose poorly..

Dude, in 2007 we set school records for points, yards and ppg. We averaged 40 a game. That in no way is " pretty good." That's the real deal Holyfield.

In 2007 he had Flynn/RP at QB and a solid offensive line
Yeah, I know, I get that.
But the offense right now is soooo bad. On an epic level of suckness. JJ and JL were pretty highly touted coming out, and the running game was decent enough this year.
And then there's the Crowton track record...he always sucks after one year, and he couldnt do shite with Dennis Dixon. Thats enough for me.

You had to play the race card, didn't you?
I agree that JJ is never going to be a consistent SEC level QB (his tool box is lacking a few), and while Lee showed some flashes before Crowton had him for another couple of years of tutelage, I don't think we have a QB that can take us to the top.
That said, I am unconvinced that Crowton is the answer as OC, even with a stud QB. Speaking of which, when Les gives Crowton the boot, maybe he can take that lump of goo with him and we can hire a good OL coach at the same time.

You are aware what year it is and that we're 30 days from another year, right?

This is the problem with this offense- Jack of all trades- master of none.
Any decent coach will tell you that you need core plays you excel at, which a defense must adjust to in order to stop, and then you attack the adjustment to keep them off balance.
It's not about throwing a smorgasborg of different plays out there, screwing up your own rythm.
NCAA practice rules won't allow time to get the reps needed to run the O he had with Da Bears.
It's better to run 10 plays exceptionally, than 100 half assed ones.

good point,
I think both are the problem, Crowton and JJ, we have all witnessed what happens to JJ under pressure, he folds like wet paper bag, face it the guy just doesn't have what it takes...
Now, would JJ play better under a OC that actually knew what he was doing?..Sure...Absolutely, but will he ever be a championship QB?...Never...he's too scared...Serviceable?...Sure, ill give him that...that drive vs AR...he was outstanding...
But I still believe that RS can run the zone read better then JJ. And I believe JL can throw the ball better then JJ...so, really what I would do it start JL, and let RS have about 5 series as our zone read QB...

i have only 1 problem with your post. Why blame Miles. Lee was an elite 11 and got rid of RP. LSU's problem has been the qb position. I feel if we would have had a better qb we would have done better and Crowton would be getting all this heat. However i feel we have had so much negativity surrounding our offense with the QB problem and Crowton, i belive that an infusion of a new OC would be beneficial with a new QB coming in. Don't blame Miles on this no one can predict the future.

Miles is the head coach. Anything that happens under him, good or bad, is his fault. If the offense sucks, its his fault. If the defense sucks, it's his fault. If our QB play is horrible, it's his fault. The OC is supposed to call plays. He can't even use 10% of his playbook with the QBs we have to put on the field. That is a fact. So let's fire him and find some guy out there who can come in and have the best 1 page playbook ever so our waterhead Qb can run his offense. Can't wait!!
Jefferson is the man!!

Seriosuly??
A good offensive coordinator knows how to adjust his scheme when QB play is so terrible as you claim. Crowton was way to reliant on the passing game if we have such shitty QBs. The fact that you are putting such little blame on the person responsible for QB development is a joke.
I can understand if just one QB had bad habits, mechanics, and made bad decisions. But the mere fact that its BOTH QBs that share the same issues tells me the problem is with the person coaching the QBS.
