I hate it when our first opponent has a game under their belt

I know it's Duquesne, but I hate that FSU has a warmup game the Saturday before they play LSU.

Whoever is setting up these matchups needs to add a “no week zero games” clause to the contracts.

He has a better chance of getting knocked out by a Florida State cheerleader, than the opponent.

College football should do away with week 0 games.

I don’t see why we couldn’t have convinced Southern to play tomorrow instead.

Has it ever happened before last year with UCLA? I guess 2005 Arizona St because we got postponed the week before?

2002 Virginia Tech

Although in fairness it also happened with 2017 BYU and we shut them out.

It really isn't a big deal. You get a free week of actual game footage to prepare with

It is an advantage. But, it’s also a BIG opportunity for LSU to get out of the gate. IMO, the plan will be to pound the rock and play defense until we soften them up. Defense wins the fourth quarter. Should have been the same for UCLA last year.

I can work to LSU advantage as they can see Florida State in game action the week before playing them. Florida State won’t have that.

Biggest improvement for most teams is from game 1 to game 2.

Or so they say.

It can be a huge disadvantage when you have new systems and so many new players like we do unfortunately.

But hopefully lsu can learn something from fsu’s week zero game.

This. All day, Every Day.

It’s LSU’s responsibility when setting up these neutral games to insist that this clause is in the contract.

I also don’t understand why the Sugar Bowl Committee, who is sponsoring the game, wouldn’t insist on it as well. Seems like a no brainer to me. If I’m putting together a big game like this, in prime time, to kick off the season, I’m making damn sure that it’s the first game for both participants.

Yeah it scares the shite out of me also. Not enough to make me want to post about it but nevertheless.

I’m just glad that playing Duquesne this week makes you a huge vag because I’m going to be tough, watch the game and say frick it while learning something about them.

Yeah it's definitely an advantage for FSU to get that tune-up game, but looking at the glass half full:

- LSU gets some game film. Not that I expect FSU to have to reveal very much. But we can at least maybe glean some player tendencies, weaknesses, etc.
- FSU has higher risk to sustain injuries
- Duquesne isn't exactly good prep for a team like LSU. They probably don't have more than a handful of players that could even be on scholarship at LSU. Hell, FSU themselves don't have the same talent we have, so many of their younger players will be getting a wakeup call the first time they line up against us despite the tune up game.
