what safety net do you think flynn took to green bay?
his stable upbringing from his prior 21 yrs, his 5 years in the football program and family support.

Because people use the LSU scored more points in their losses in Flynn's losses than in Russell's losses so Flynn is better argument.
We weren't arguing whether Flynn was better than JR stupid. We were arguing whether the 2006 team was better than the 2007 team.

Yes but the SEC and NC championships will be remembered in LSU lore and CFB history forever.

well no shite

but that has frick all to do with comparing JR to Flynn

LSU "losing 2 games on the road but golly gee were were still a great team" is a mere footnote and worthy only of cheerleader posts from the likes of Hot Carl.

2006 was a victim of circumstance in terms of titles. titles take great teams and great play, but luck along the way, too

championships involve a lot of luck
I feel better as a fan when we win championships, whether by hook or by crook (or by luck). That is the deciding factor for me. I don't go back and run a statistics program on the season to figure out if I'm happy or not.

Thank you I was about to post this. everyone seems to forget how awful the defense was down the stretch in 07. They also seem to forget how many drops there were in 07. I also hate these stupid statements like "terrible memory is terrible" or "obvious troll is obvious". Those statements are pointless and stupid.

Dropped passes? Seriously? You think they never dropped passes in 2006? Also kind of amazing that you so clearly remember all of those dropped balls while forgetting how the 2006 AU game is possibly the worst officiated game in the history of college football.

i didn't think JR had that bad of a family life

he wasn't crazy or an a-hole like d cousins or anything

he just didn't have a work ethic necessary to be a great pro. that's not awesome, but that happens

assuming JR had bad stability in his upbringing, i fail to see how 1 more year of fricking college chicks and dominating the field was going to change 18 years of bad home life

It's all opinion. There is no way to tell who is 'right or wrong' in this instance. That's why it's a 15 page thread with a lot of weak arguments and few very good ones.

95% of this thread is the QB debate or 06/07 due to QB play

I agree with you SFP that he didn't have a great work ethic and he lost his drive because of the money. My point was with better advice, more stability to be able to handle success, and better life coaching, he would have made better decisions.

My argument is not that he was a bad person.

possibly. this happens to stable players, too, though. see: matt leinart

doesn't take away how awesome he was at LSU in 2006, being the best QB in CFB that year

and being a better QB than flynn was in 2007

Sorry I had jumped to comparing 2006 to 2007, not JR to Flynn. Sorry if we were comparing two different things.

Bottom line:

JR >> Flynn when it comes to talent.
Flynn >> JR when it comes to success on the field.

2006 >> 2007 when it comes to statistics.
2007 >> 2006 when it comes to championships.

I guess it's a mixed bag, but the OP's original assertion was that Flynn was ultimately better than JR, and to this I agree. It doesn't mean that he was better in a snapshot in time (2006 season), it means that his ultimate success on the football field has proven to be greater.
