Doesnt bother you at all that that scholarship could serve a purpose other than football?
There are kids out there that would love this opportunity.

Do you really care what happens to these guys after their eligibility is gone? It's college football, its a big business and they now understand that grown man businesses have grown man rules that are unforced. Most of us don't expect these guys to find a cure for cancer.

Absolutely correct.

(although it would be pretty cool if the Honey Badger discovered a cure for lymphoma, wouldn't it?)

I wonder how many people who are defending their actions, would not throw a fit over a face mask or late hit on 3rd and 12 with the game on the line. I get that for some of these kids their home lives have not been ideal, but this is not the first 2 months they have been exposed to rules and the need to follow them or get punished. No, what they did is not worthy of a witch hunt with torches and all, but they messed up, they got punished, and the team will have to play without them. They got too big for their britches and I believe CLM can shrink 'em back down to size. I don't see a problem with Auburn, and the Tigers have depth, it'll be aight. The guys are still learning from mistakes... I know I have made plenty, even into my 40's, but if I do, then I should expect to be given a hard time about it. The same as the fans should lighten up, the players who messed up and the fans who are whining about everybody being to mean, need to toughen up a bit and take that medicine.

honestly, i just want to win. i'm pissed at the situation, but i'm not going to be a hypocrite either. i really don't care that they smoked pot, i care they were dumb enough to get caught.

All the dumb frick fans who live in the "bible belt" of Louisiana show up about now to tell people how big of a piece of trash they are. Heres what I think.....frick you, frick what you believe and what your version of right and wrong is. It's friggin pot, chill out on the bible thumping and stop projecting your miserable arse life on everyone you interact with.

We should all do illegal things and see if the cops care.... The OP should start by smoking some weed in the vicinity of the cops

Even if I agree to an extent with you, that has very little to do with the situation. Stupid, unfair rule or not, it wasn't like they didn't know they would be drug tested. They fricked up.

on our money it says, "in god we trust." we also go around, in times of distress, blathering "one nation under god." every presidential address is ended with the words, "may god bless you and may god bless the united states of america."

if you believe that god is and was the "creator" then he invented the stuff. to outlaw pot is basically telling god to go stuff it. stupid law made by ignorant people. life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness....no harm, no foul. it really is that freakin simple. JMHO.

Nope not arrested, they didn't do it in vicinity of cops, they just did it when they know about drug testing.

Like the idiots I use to work with, we all knew we had random drug testing and yet people still failed.

However, my comments still stand based on the the OP's stance, as my comment does not mention the players, just the fact of illegal things. Reading helps

Well that is going a bit far. You are saying we should just allow all drugs by this.

I agree pot should be legal due to the fact that is does less to you than alcohol. The drug itself is pretty harmless to society and could provide a boost in the economy.

Legalize it and tax the frick out of it, is my opinion....
However, currently it is illegal and players know they are getting tested.

depends where you are, I know in Boulder, the main spot to buy pot is in the park in front of the courthouse, as cops don't care about pot there, meanwhile on the Northshore you can get life for Pot.

i didn't say they weren't idiots for failing a drug test, but your analogy about the cops was stupid. just a question, did you drink underage? because you do realize that in most states getting caught with a small amount of weed and getting caught underage with alcohol are the same grade offenses? if these players got caught for underage consumption and got suspended for this game, people would be throwing shite fits, even though that too would be illegal.

WTF are you talking about? I simply believe, given the circumstances, that I would bend the rules in this particular instance if I were the coach. I have no clue what you're talking about. Whether the coaches care really is beside the issue i.e. the parallel you have drawn is faulty.

Yup but like the players I knew the consequences... However, I am sure if I got busted/in trouble people wouldn't be justifying because I played sports, although some might.

Good thing in Louisiana fine is 500, 6 months in jail, and labeled a misdemeanor, second offense is a felony, 2,000 fine, and 0-5 years jail.....

And for the record, the fine for minor with alcohol is actually less than being caught with weed. On a first conviction, notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the offender shall be fined not less than three hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars, and shall be imprisoned for not less than ten days nor more than six months.

So you would only bend the rules because they are players and you want to win a game. Rather shitty logic as if another coach did this you would be lambasting him as a shitty coach for not following the rules. Although purple and gold colored glasses are thick tonight

You can't be this dumb. I bet you're one of the people who actually believed JJ was in danger of being convicted of a felony.

so you're quoting the maximum possible as the norm. lol ok

ok, so essentially the same. thanks for clearing that up

btw, call me next time someone serves time in jail for a first time offense of getting caught with a joint
