But after I read this quote today from Kendall Beckwith on NOLA.com, I believe it was intentional.

quote:

We had an 8-5 season last year, and that's not LSU football. The bowl game (a Music City Bowl loss to Notre Dame) really hung with us. They came out with some things we hadn't seen and we didn't make the adjustments. They got us, but we're moving on from that and we're coming out ready to play

frick Chavis and A&M.

Tbh they did use a different QB and ran the ball a lot more than they had before. That might be due to them seeing that Chavis' weakness is power run and DTQBs.

The part that sticks out is:

quote:

and we didn't make the adjustments

frick you Chavis
clap clap, clap clap clap

Elite pass rush with DBU shutting down their receivers.

Tight end DeSean Smith: "We have talent and our program is built on being physical. We have a lot of leadership, not just from the seniors and juniors, but from younger guys like Leonard Fournette and Jamal Adams. They are stepping up and speaking, and that's a big thing, because you usually don't see that from younger guys playing big roles. I love the brotherhood on this team. There should be no reason that we don't go all the way this season."

This quote made me Fap twice.

Did you watch the game? That fricker might as well have been sitting in the stands. On the opponents side.

Halftime

Coach what adjustments do you want us to make.

Chavis on phone: yeah it's a done deal let me get this next half over.

Chavis alright fellows lets get out there and play the second half like the first half and get a win.

Fail fail fail

Nothing in that statement says Chavis mailed it in. He could simply be saying they didn't make the right adjustments. He could also be meaning that they didn't make the adjustments on the field, as in they saw a formation they hadn't gone over in practice or film and they didn't adjust properly to either base or a play/scheme from a previous game where another opponent might have used the formation. I dount Chavis just didn't try to make any adjustments at all.

So I take it you didn't actually see the game...

I'm so glad that cows gone

Rewatched the Bama game the other night. His 2 minute defense was putrid. Make one tackle inbounds and we win. Indeed wasn't the players. They were out of position because they were coached that way

The knock on Chavis has always been his inability to make in-game adjustments.

He is really good at gameplanning and prep. . .but if the opponent does something weird, he is fricked.

Look at the 2001 SEC Championship. He couldn't figure out how to stop the QB draw. Important to note that that was a team that had Henderson, Overstreet, and Haynesworth on the DL.

Freshman QB who didn't start all year is gutting the #1 D in the SEC........play your stud DBs man to man and stack the fricken box! you'd think the guy didn't watch one LSU offensive snap all year! The answer was right in front of you

Ronald Martin was quoted as saying they couldn't get their calls in fast enough....

That pissed me off so much, how do you not have a 2 minute defensive gameplan in place?

Think rant gets it wrong on the chief just at checker board fans did when he was hired at LSU .The low scoring losses in his time at LSU were more on the offense not the defense . I am most disappointed in the ga shoot out game and other high scoring LSU losses. Hope Steele does not put LSU in that situation .

He got burned in 2000 on a 1 legged Rohan to Reed show. Chavis is done as DC. Move on nothing to see here

Chief handcuffed the offense and often begged Miles to play ball control.

I hear you.
If your heart, soul, and mind are not in it, there will be immediate poor results.
In my job, we remove those people immediately.
That fact that he clearly wasn't all there for the team is all anyone is really trying to say…
