It's all about winning. In 1987, people were football and basketball. Baseball averaged 600 fans per game despite being a CWS returnee.

True dat. LSU hoops ruled in the 80's. The whole "football school" is only because football is winning. There was much more excitement about basketball quite a few years during that decade. Believe me, I slept on the ramp of the PMAC along with hundreds of students for a game with Carolina around 84. It was rockin.

I wonder if we'll ever see those days again.

TJ will never see the kinds of athletes that Dale Brown gaves in the 80's to early 90's.

I don't know. I'd Ike to think we could get back to some consistent success. But if we can't recruit any better...especially in-state...then we don't have a shot.

I can't remember the last time the SEC west was THIS bad. We still have an outside shot to win the division, although Miss State finally has all of their pieces back. State likey wins the west with about 14 losses overall...us, Bama, and Arkansas fighting for 2nd place. Ole Miss embarrassed us, but with a 1-5 record, they are likely the first team to eliminate themselves. Auburn winning at SC shows that they're improving.

You're right. It's not just us having problems. I wouldn't think that the emergence of the SEC as the elite college football conference would have an adverse effect on SEC hoops. It's probably just coincidence. But it's bad.
