Last time UK chose not to give Mr Kentucky Basketball a scholly, and LSU was the recipient of the talent, we one the SEC twice and a Final Four in 1981. His name...Rudy Macklin. Another Tiger Great.

About as much as LSU regretting not offering Dicky Lyons Jr. a scholly as they were winning an NC.

This is the only year he would have played. He wouldn't have played much last year behind a first round draft pick and he wouldn't play next year with a top 5, 6 foot 5 PG coming in. He's certainly better than harrow is this year, but Kentucky is better off without him and he's better off without Kentucky.

Talked to alot of them at the SEC tournament last year. They were absolutely gushing over him.

As you say, they are fine with what they have, but I can tell you one thing, he'd get minutes for them right now. For what that's worth.

I should have followed up on my thoughts more. I don't think the UK team misses him. I'm sure there is a pretty large contingent of fans that would like to have him though since he is a Kentucky kid and that is one of the things they dont really get with Calipari, since he recruits the absolute best prospects around. I would bet there were a fair amount of Darius Miller fans last year for that reason. Their fanbase was upset with Tubby Smith for a lot of reasons (many invalid), but not offering Chris Lofton a scholarship and having to watch him light them up for years was certainly one.

ETA: I also agree he'd get minutes this year.

The real team that would be missing him in Kentucky would be Louisville. UK gets the absolute cream of the crop so long as Calipari is there.

Louisville and Pitino could be the ones shaking their heads.

Usually, this would be a good point, but Hickey would probably be the one who would be tough to sell on that idea. He would have played, but not a lot of minutes the first two years since Siva is their main PG (Smith, Blackshear and Kuric-last year- also get the time at the other G spots). I have no idea who they have coming in next year but I doubt Hickey would've wanted to wait until his Jr year to have a chance to take over.

You sure Ross Neltner wasn't Mr. Bball in Kentucky without a UK offer?

You're correct. He was Mr. Basketball in KY.
