Well making a statement like you did pretty much assures me of that. A ton of you did so why would I expect anything different. I remember how this board was during Trent Johnson era. It was empty. A lot of times no in game threads. People were apathetic. Y'all are sad

LSU is still top 4 in the SEC.

LSU hasn't taken a step back

From going to the tourney, to missing it completely and not even participating in any post season play? Yeah thats a step back.

Only 3 teams made the tournament this season. It was a two team league honestly.

Blame Simmons (got that agent money now), LSU wasn't playing in the postseason without it's best player. Not accepting a bid because of "team reasons" isn't taking a step back. It's protecting you brand, your best prospect of further criticism.

I'm talking 2018, this has nothing to do with anything. Jones is capable of pulling top talent in the state. Obviously Simmons and Blakeney factored in this class

I love how people bring up the placement in the SEC standings like it's something to brag on

What is there to brag about? I'm just saying LSU is still one of the dominant SEC teams when it comes to conference play. If that continues and they win some non-conference games they'll make the tournament. Team couldn't figure out how to play with each other early on which resulted in those early losses. The later losses resulted in lack of effort. Two different reasons.

I feel like this year they took a step back. Still not as far back as when Johnny took over. Coming into this year the teams improved over the previous year

I've seen that a few times, the we improved every year. I'm not so sure the program improved between the first and second year other than talent level, but that's for another thread.

I think what you have seen is the cumulative affect of a lack of accountability, I really do.

Hard issue to recover from. I'd love it if Johnny could, I like him just like all the well meaning friends who wanted him to get this job. I'm just not sure he can.

Unfortunately, whether they like it or not, as soon as a college athlete puts on a uniform for his/her school and steps on to the field/court, they become part of the public domain.

They're there for our entertainment while they get an education.

As such, they will be criticized, idolized and be the subject of public opinion.

There's nothing wrong with expressing a critical opinion about a player's game, it's just how you do it.

I haven't been on this board for a couple of years, so I don't know exactly how the OP and others voiced their criticism, but "trashing" someone sounds a bit over-the-top.

So be critical, express your frustration, but don't get vicious with it (not saying you have, btw). I always think that you wouldn't like your brother or sister treated that way if they were a college athlete.

Just my thoughts.

For the Jones supporters, please justify his RIGID 2 PF and you're out the rest of the half rule. Shouldn't a good coach be able to understand the situation and adjust accordingly?

Well, out of his league Johnny decided to sit Craig Victor on the bench on Saturday as the lead ballooned to 10, then to 15 and finally 22 at the half.

After it got to double digits, shouldn't a coach realize, "damn, I need to make sure this game doesn't get out of hand and need to risk my guy picking up a 3rd foul or maybe I should coach him in such a way that he won't pick up a foul"

He has always been criticized for this and his uncanny ability to take a TO about 2 possessions too late. He wants to let his players play through it, but this year has shown, players need some structure and coaching during the game.

It's representative of his inability to make appropriate decisions based on the situation. His in game decision making might be among the worst in the country.

Thanks!

You left out Women's soccer Not too great either. I did go and see one game, they played okay .

I go to all home Men's basketball games, when I'm not travelling out of the country. I go to away games as well.

Was at the SEC tournament and was thoroughly disgusted at our performance.
Shocked and angered by CJJ's announcement that we weren't playing in the NIT, because TWO (that's right, 2) players were unable to play. Awful decision, the guys want to play (except maybe Tim) and should have the opportunity to play one or more games

JJ followed that up with a terrible press conference. LSU basketball is now nationally ridiculed.

I really like Johnny as a person, but am fed up with his coaching and I'm pissed off about the NIT. It's time for him to go.

In all honesty my father is a Michigan St. Alum so he sees the best when it comes to coaching. Im saddened with the fact LSU doesn't care enough to get this basketball program great again. If I'm Shaq I start getting more involved because Aleva is not doing his job. I'm embarrassed that he has no leadership. Its disgusting.

Glad you are back. Your no Sunshine Pumper, that's for sure. Just calling it like you see it. The rant needs you.

Sorry about leaving out Women's Soccer. I forgot. We can just add them to the list of "needs improvement".

Yes Women's Tennis was ranked 15th last year and 18th this year. The Men are not ranked.

As a whole I guess you could say Tennis needs improvement.

But congrats to our Lady Tennis Tigers none the less. Keep up the good work.

There is a reason they call them "Free"..

They call them "free" cause the shooter is free from D pressure, but anyone thinking they are "free" from self imposed mental pressure hasn't shot many in a game mode.

If you think JJ doesn't have the program in a better place than when arrived, I don't think you are being honest with yourself.
