I would say D

I like Miles though and thinks he likes LSU. I just think that turning it down again would definitely close the door on the opportunity.

I actually hope it doesn't happen because I think he is a good man and has done a very good job for our program. I would not choose to want to go through a coaching change.

And stick around this ungrateful miserable half time leaving fan base? No question I would leave 100%

Plus its easier to win a big 10 title / nc

9-3 in the PAC 10

SO you think this would be more impressive than 11-2 in the SEC, with wins over either Florida or Bama, and a New Years Bowl win?

I know it is Stanford, but that seems to be unequal accomplishments.

Wow. Under this hypothetical Coach Miles would have won 11 or more games in 4 out of 6 seasons, including bowl wins over Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, and a quality BCS Bowl opponent this season. He also would have 6 seasons of outstanding recruiting classes. Oh yeah, he also has won a national title. Furthermore, he has been a stand-up guy and has kept the program out of trouble with the NCAA, etc. Look, I know he has not been perfect, but under this scenario and coming off an 11 win season (plus a killer recruiting class on deck), I find it incredulous that some of you would still want to upset the stability of the program and have Miles leave for Michigan.

I say regardless of anyone's record at the end of this year, we need to trade Miles to Michigan for Rodriguez.

For the record, I was indicating that Miles would have the predicament, not LSU fans.

And for all his faults, his recruiting of players and coaches, combined with all that LSU offers in its nature (facilities, support, etc...) combine for an effective formula - in this hypothetical that is...

Miles jumps to Michigan, flipping off the nagatards as loads the truck.
LSU hires Hallman.

I agree. There is no way LSU loses 2 games this year.

I don't pretend to know what Coach Miles will do, but I think he is happy here. Not wildly ecstatic mind you, but reasonably happy. He talks about his family, and how they seem to like being in Baton Rouge. All that changes with losing seasons.

I also think Saban running off to Miami might be a lesson for college coaches. I know it's the pros, and that is different, but Saban went off with the idea that the grass is greener. Miles might be a good fit for Michigan. He lived up north and played there.

It was mentioned earlier that LSU is a stepping stone job. I don't see that. When you combine facilites, a good recruiting base in LA and the Gulf coast, a solid fanbase (nutty as it is sometimes), and a very good salary, I think LSU is a very solid coaching job that is not exactly a stepping stone. Since Paul Deitzel, I can not think of anyone who left LSU for another "step up" coaching position save Saban. Deitzel goes to Army as the Viet Nam war ramps up. Arnsparger becomes an AD, and we know the rest.

I hate to shop for a coach, and I beleive the AD and LSU board doesn't want to do it either; however, they will if they are bombarded with criticism about our play on the field.

I will say this again. Coach Miles does have a way of resolving situations with dignity for those involved, and we are better for it. I am not satisfied with QB play, and I would have thought that Jarrett Lee would have been the starter by now with Jefferson as the heir apparent. All of our problems seem to revolve around the Qb position. Perriloux leaves. The two remainders are pressed into service far too early. We have a disaster with regard to interceptions and QB confidence. Jefferson is also preseed into service far too early. For God's sake, he played last year at the age of nineteen. I didn't thnk he had the maturity then, and he was completely under wraps, tenative and nervous. And to me, we still don't have a top flight quarterback. Hopefully, very hopefully, JJ will prove me wrong.

Coach Miles does have a very good class coming in next year with a solid team in play. And because of that, I would keep Miles another year if he wants to stay barring a complete meltdown. I will leave it up to you to define meltdown in terms of the W-L record.

RocketScientist, my post was not aimed at you, but rather at the geniuses that would want to see Miles leave under your hypothetical. Some people will just complain about anything.

To much bad blood between Coach Miles and Michigan now. The Michigan Board of Supervisors did not speak up when the Former Players wanted Coach Miles to replace Coach Carr. The Michigan Former Players when to the Michigan A. D. first, but found out that he was in Coach Carr back pocket.

Coach Miles was Coach Bo's player and friend. Coach Miles still keeps in touch with Coach Bo's family.
