Trying to find his stats but the NCAA site only list the top 50. I know he was hitting .500 at some point last year. I know he is no where near that this year. But what is his average and how would you rank the hitters on the team?

And finally, why do you think he has been that much more unproductive then last year? Is it as simple as not being able to maintain that high level? What says the rant?

Ummm, not many people hit .500 for a long time. Raph is still performing at a very high level.

BTW, it took me about 20 seconds to find that Rhymes is hitting .327

Thanks. You went to which site? I rely on the NCAA site much. LSU or SEC site?

I think in statistics this is called "the ceiling effect." When you are near .500, there is only room to come down, or "gravitate to the mean."

What he did last year, with these bats, was unbelievable. I didn't expect that again this year. If he gets hot and moves back above .360, that is a great year.

he's doing great. last year, there weren't than many people hitting around him, so the fact that he hit nearly 500 was amazing. this year he is hitting low to mid 300, but with a guy in front of him hitting upper 400, and a guy behind hitting mid 400's. more balance is loads better than having one guy smash. ask mikey mahtook 2011

Rhymes has struggled in 3 SEC series thus far, only hitting .235 compared to .458 last year. On base % is also way down from .535 to .308.

I'm sure there are several reasons why ... hard to follow up a great year with another one, being pitched differently, not as lucky with those ground balls that seemed to always find the outfield last year.

Don't expect 2012 numbers, but he needs to pick it up a bit in SEC play.

This year he seems to be pressing more, his swing isn't as natural. He's already struck out more this year than all of last year. (14 to 13)
