No you're not. In the SEC, 99% of the time, you are going to have to win 12 to 13 games to be considered to play in the NC. It's amazing how many people fail to realize we don't have 10/11 game seasons anymore. 10 wins a season in a great conference usually lands you in the Cap/Cotton bowl.

Let's suppose that LSU defeats A & M in the Cotton Bowl.

Now, what if following the Cotton Bowl, Les announces that he is retiring from coaching (and it's legit...he retires).

How will he be viewed by the LSU faithful?

All the bandwagon fans will be happy and high fiving each other while the real fans will miss him. He is a good coach. He brought us a title, I do not care what players he had, he was the coach that year and won the title with his gutsy play calling and good coaching.

Who will replace him?

Irony: The fans that wish to see him go will be wnodering what happened to him when the Tigers begin to struggle in the SEC over the next few seasons. Is that what it will take to prove he is a good coach to everyone?

I feel the same way about LSU Football and think if Les doesn't make a run at the division this year he should be gone

That is such a stupid statement.

Define "make a run at the division."

LSU "made a run at the division" this year. If we had beaten Auburn, we were in.

You seem to be saying "win the division"

You simply can not expect to win the division every year.

I think even the ones that are glad that he is gone initially will gain more respect for him and his accomplishments after he is gone.....and they will have some great stories to tell for years to come about that crazy coach we had and all he did was win....

Im pretty sure he was talking about SEC championships. And if you win 10+ games you are competing for a shot at the championship most of the time.

When LSU beats TAMU, it will be 11-2. This will only be the fourth time that has happened in LSU history (11 wins). Les will have coached 3 of them.

REALLY? b/c les miles would have 4 11-win seasons all by himself.

hint (both dietzel AND Saban did it in their national title seasons)

I would definitely be in that 70%. Miles has the best record of any coach who coached more than a couple seasons in LSU history. He also would have followed up "terrible" 8-5, 9-4 seasons with 11-2 and a top 10 finish. All that with the worst QB play imaginable. Pretty damned impressive. but i know im viewing that through purple and gold glasses
