How Will LSU attack the Bama Defense?

Will Steve E be free swinging, use some trickery, take shots down the field, etc? Or will there be more of a plan to go run heavy, dink and dunk with the short pass game, to try and control clock and move chains? I saw this comparison here yesterday, kinda like the Saints did Sunday night?

Bama leads the SEC in sacks. I think we can get pressure on Saint Jeaux. If he tries to stand in and deliver downfield against a rush, I think there will be opportunities for our secondary to make a play. I have been pleasingly surprised at how well our revamped secondary, even losing a couple of guys this year to injury, has progressed.

We have encountered some issues with our linebackers in coverage and run support at times. They have played better the last couple of games, but might still be a weakness. Do you think your OC may try to get runing backs and tight ends heavily involved in the pass game?

Finally, last year Stidham at Auburn was surprising effective with designed runs. He really hurt us, did not run a ton, but had timely runs for first downs, and even had a TD. This year, Mond gashed us a few times doing the same. Do you think designed runs for Saint Jeaux will be in your plan? And to what extent?

Lots of talk about the matchup on the other side of the ball, well deserved, but LSU Offense vs Bama D may be what decides the game. What are your thoughts on plan and philosophy?

We will try to give the ball to people who can get in the endzone. In order to win, we will have to do it more than Bama.

I think LSU needs to move down the field methodically and eat up clock as much as they can. I would like to see them keep it out of Tua's hands as much as possible. Not that I don't think we can defend them, but I don't know that anyone in the country can defend them drive after drive and hold them under 20-30 points. If we can eat up clock and limit the number of drives and keep our defense fresh then I like our chances. If we get into a scoring duel we're toast and there's no debating that.

Alabama hasn't faced a secondary this stout all season and we're about to find out just how good Tua and those receivers are. I know they're good but we'll see if it was a product of them just being superior or if it was a product of the caliber of defenses played being garbage.

We need to play sound disciplined defense and not give up the big play. The big play has been Alabama's bread and butter all season long. They just constantly hit teams with 40-60 yard touchdowns. LSU has to shut that shite off immediately and force Tua to make some decisions that aren't to wide open receivers. On offense, I just think if we can establish the run game and have a few 10-12 play drives taking 4-6 minutes off the clock it gives LSU it's best chance of winning.

We're not super explosive on offense and everyone knows that but I do believe we can run the ball on Bama and we do have to find a way to get Burrow time to throw the ball. They did at times versus Mississippi State and I honestly think State has a better defense than Bama. I think we'll be fine in that regard.

No offense, but nothing to this point has given me even a shred of confidence our O-line can do this.

Our run D is not, like some have termed, "Swiss Cheese - but it is not as dominant as it has been in past years. We are 12th in total D and 20th in rush defense. I absolutely so agree that if LSU is able to run and move chains with consistency, this will be a huge advantage for the Tigers.

If Bama can stop the run in base D it will obviously be a huge edge for Bama. I could see LSU maybe letting Burreaux take some deep shots or back shoulder sideline passes to make us respect that aspect.

How healthy is your offensive line? Again, I am kinda expecting Burreaux to have more designed runs than in prior games, which has hurt us in spots in the last year or so.

I really hope so. If we win the LOS, we'll win this game.

Tempo the whole game should make the deference it will either gas the grumps or we are in for a long night if we can't play ball control....at lease keep them off the field

Thing about Tempo, there also is the potential for a quick three-and-out and more possessions for the Alabama offense

Bama leads the SEC in sacks.

LSU has already faced plenty of defenses that specialized in pressure up front. Miami has as many sacks as Bama this year. Bama leads the SEC in sacks, but Auburn is 2nd and State & florida are tied for 4th. It's nothing LSU hasn't seen. Also, Bama has played, literally, the three worst SEC offenses at allowing sacks. Arkansas, Ole Miss, and A&M are the bottom three in sacks allowed.

Bama will get their sacks, but I'm not terrified of the pass rush. Burrow can run, but the big issue for LSU is that the run game has not been terribly productive on a per carry basis. If the Tigers can't find a hot hand, it could be a long night.

Attack them where they are strong.

Oh wait never mind, that was Les Miles’s idiotic strategery. Well at least any thing other than that should be an improvement from years past.

Bama's defense isn't as good as usual. LSU should be able to run the ball and Burrow kill you with play action. LSU'S secondary is going to smother your wide receivers and contain Tua.

The more I think about it the less I like Bama's chances. This game could get out of hand. LSU wins by double digits.
