Madden, X-Box, PS games are not real football. They are freaking simulations.

Without watching or playing football you can learn a good bit about the game. It still isn't real though.

The only reason I know a lot about rugby is because of EA.

I've seen this posted a hundred times and each time I can't tell if the person is serious or joking. It's funny either way.

More than most and coached long enough to know a football is thrown further with more velocity versus falling backwards

I give myself a good solid B due to not knowing what a coach or professional player knows. But you gotta ask yourself honestly, how many people that post on a message board know that much anyway? But I do know the rules of the game and some basic X's and O's.

It kills me when something happens and the people in the stands boo when it's so freaking obvious that the call is correct.

Sober: frickin' C-, maybe even a D
With tequila or rum on board: frickin' A+++'

This pretty much sums up the TigerRant!

b+ or a-. I understand the gaps and the different assignments on both sides of the lines, coverage assignments, what 12 and 21 personnel means, etc.

Watch a football with someone who really knows about football, and you will be shocked on how much you miss during the game. I rate myself a high C, and I know a lot about football. If you never played or coached the game, how could you rate yourself an A or B, totally ridiculous. There are many moving parts to a football play or scheme. Some people watch the ball every play and feel they know a lot about football.

D for debatable, but I'm confident I could easily provoke a, "You're an idiot!" response.

Or compared to other fans with no upper level coaching or playing experience?
This I guess..

I give myself a D - . . .

-- Once both teams line up, I can tell which team has possession.
-- I can tell the difference between a fullback and a tailback -- if the offense lines up in a power-I.
-- I can tell the difference between a wide receiver and a slot receiver (pretty esoteric stuff).
-- I can recognize a blitz, once the ball is snapped.
-- I can recognize most penalties as they happen, if I actually see them happen.

It’s not much.

But I can still scream & holler that we should throw more . . .

F'ing this ^^

A friend of the family has coached at serveral different schools including the 58 National title team at LSU. It's fun to watch a game with him. He can pick apart what the offense and defense is doing and will call something happening about 3 plays before it happens.
