What you have failed to account for is the level of competition.
LSU played a much tougher OOC schedule than Texas A&M.
A&M played Stephen F. Austin, Louisiana Tech, Florida International, and Arkansas.
LSU played UNC, West Virginia, McNeese, and ULM. We obviously also played Arkansas as part of our conference schedule and played them much closer than A&M did.
All of that means LSU played one, maybe two, more "legit" game than A&M did. Furthermore, if you consider that UNC represents that extra legit game, you also have to consider that UNC put up a shite ton of yards in the 4th quarter on our second team defense.

In A&M's three crap games, they gave up 266, 269, and 232 yards respectively. That clearly drives their average per game DOWN.
LSU gave up 219 to McNeese and 190 to ULM. That also drives our average down.
However, we played UNC as our third game, not a cream puff. UNC put up 436 yards, many of which came in the 4th quarter.
Clearly, the OOC creampuffs A&M played is driving their average down, while the UNC game we opened the season with makes our average a little higher than it probably should be.

Actually I did mention the opposition in my OP although admittedly only on a superficial level (I only listed the top 5 offenses played by each squad). So lets dig a little deeper and list all the offenses faced by both A&M and LSU.
Offense rank of A&M opposition:
#1 Oklahoma State
#10 Arkansas
#12 Oklahoma
#13 Baylor
#18 Texas Tech
#35 Nebraska
#43 FIU
#44 Missouri
#51 Louisiana Tech
#59 Texas
#113 Kansas
NR Stephen F. Austin (not Division I)
Pending - #89 LSU
Offense rank of LSU opposition:
#8 Auburn
#10 Arkansas
#27 Alabama
#45 Mississippi
#46 Mississippi State
#50 North Carolina
#64 West Virginia
#74 Tennessee
#80 Florida
#84 ULM
#110 Vanderbilt
NR McNeese State (not Division I)
Pending - #22 Texas A&M
A&M avg. rank of opponent's offense: 33
LSU avg. rank of opponent's offense: 50
Its actually not even close that A&M's D has faced much tougher offenses on the year.
Also I'm pretty sure I'm being trolled when you said this:

A&M played them within 7, LSU played them within 8.

seriously liger?? looking at those rankings...unc is BELOW la. tech offensively??? Who does la tech play...v. who does unc play??? You're not comparing apples to apples...if Baylor or FIU played the same schedule as Ole Piss...I don't think they'd be ranked as high from an offensive potency standpoint.

Exactly. The point of my post was to note that LSU played one more "legit" game than A&M did.

A&M played them within 7, LSU played them within 8.
But they were drastically different games. LSU was the better team, but two big plays given up by the same defender cost us the game.
Arkansas jumped all over A&M early. The Aggies turned the ball over 3 times in the first half and had no business being in the game after that.
The only reason they were in the game is because they gave up a big play on the last play of the half...a 31 yard TD pass to Fuller that cut the score to 21-14.
After that, Arkansas failed to convert two FG opportunities to put the game away.
The point is that Arkansas was far superior to A&M. They jumped all over them, and then did just enough to withstand a comeback.
LSU, on the other hand, was legitimately better than Arkansas, but gave up two huge plays that cost us the game.

So now we are debating SOS...new topic.
SOS:
#4 - A&M
#14 - LSU
A&M has played a tougher schedule AND they've played tougher offenses.

Wow. You are delusional.
Note how you talk about A&M and LSU differently with regards to the Razorbacks. A&M and their WR (Fuller) didn't score, Arkansas "gave" them a TD.
On the contrary when you talk about LSU vs. Arkansas it was LSU that "gave" Arkansas points. The Razorbacks never gifted anything to the Tigers.

LSU is going to beat A&M.
Arkansas had no run threat to speak of when we were in Dallas. Knile Davis and the Arkansas run game didn't decide to wake up until several weeks later.
The Arkansas-A&M game wasn't as close as the score appears, and that was without a ground game.
It wont be a blow-out, but LSU wins.
Just my 2 cents.
(Edit: They had their shitty QB so I suppose that negates our lack of a run game. Regardless, LSU by 10+)

Should be a good game, but I think you guys are running into a buzz saw right now...

Give a Faggie a "buzz saw," and he'll cut his own leg off.
Christ, it's like playing cards with my sisters kids....these little faggies win a few games in the same season and they think they are on par with the big boys.....

Nah, he was probably upset that the incredibly pompous OP insulted him for no apparent reason.

2 things:
1.) You should give up alcohol.
2.) As has been pointed out many times already (it was actually the crux of my first post), A&M's defense has actually been on the field for ~20% more plays than LSU's defense this year.

The dude said LSU played Arkansas closer than A&M when the score CLEARLY showed A&M played the Hogs closer. A&M was actually throwing into the endzone as time expired to try and tie up the game and force OT.
That poster is either a woman or has some kind of congenital birth defect.

Good post Liger, I think your point is well made, this will be a close hard fought game. Special Teams will be the difference,PP return for a TD!!

Posted on 12/27/10 at 2:08 pm to Lafayette Liger
I dont see how you come with a&m defense being on the field 15-20% more than LSU's D.

You've never heard that before? Buzz saw does not imply a blowout, it just means that everything is setting up for us to win...inspiration and momentum are a couple of factors, but it just means you are running into a team that has everything going for it at that particular time and are hitting on all cylinders.. Don't think it's a blowout by any means, but I do think we'll wear you D down in the 4th and come away with the win, your D is going to see a lot of snaps, I hope they have been conditioning

If the Tigers simply had an offense! God knows how many games we would have lost if the defense hadn't played well. U can't play the entire game while the offense sits it's arse on the bench.
