So what you're saying is, he didn't have some of the highest paid assistant coaches in the game? He didn't have maybe the single greatest recruiting staff of all time?

It's not often I stumble upon a post that is just so wrong.

are you counting when he was an OC there in the 90's?

You mean when they made their only bowl appearance in that 12 year period?

Of course.

How stupid will you look next year if we don't?

I'll hang up and listen while you figure out how to search on Google

No shite, right? Then he should Google Saban at MSU and get back to us when he gets a clue.

What does this mean? LSU pays assistants more than elsewhere. It seems Les has been the one failing.

I am referencing the contract deal with Chavis ultimately ticking him off enough to run to A$M, then not being able to hire Aranda last year and settling for Steele...

With that said, you make a good point though, we do pay assistants well...

But the devil is in the details...

I would really like to fully know what happened on the Jimbo deal..

I am convinced it was going down...

something changed that Saturday...

whether it was Jimbo, Sexton, Alleva, or Alexander we may never know

the fact that DALSU never posts tells me it was Jimbo or Alexander, both "unexpected" developments to the "done deal"

Hard to predict a last minute change of heart

My buddy is friends with Bruce Hemphill who played at LSU, so I would think his tidbit has some truth to it.

What would have truly looked stupid would have been firing Miles and then hiring Will Muschamp. Which is the type of hire we would have settled for this year.

I can agree with this. If we didn't have Jimbo as a "done deal", then we needed to keep Les. We would have been done to go through a coaching search.

While y'all are busy googling, look up the Florida State records the several years before Jimbo was named head coach. Jimbo didn't follow 1990s Bobby Bowden, he followed 2000s Bobby Bowden.

OH, You mean like Miles getting a team 2 years out of a Natty, and loaded with talent in 05.

On the other hand contrast that to what Saban walked into, and the record at LSU the 10 years before.

Miles is not close to a top tier coach.

You do realize Houston is probably better than Texas Tech.

That's not setting him up to fail, it's a weird contract deal that, in the end, didn't really cost us that much. If anything, having Coach O (who could easily be a DC for a top 30 type program) as a positional coach is the definition of helping Les win.

Someone is so desperate to suck off Saban and bash Miles that they can't follow the talking points of the posters they are replying to.

I hope Miles stays here forever just to make people like you miserable.

To be honest there are some mercury-water drinkers on both extremes of this argument.

WRONG.... When Jimbo was contacted by LSU all he told them was he would talk about it after the season was over... LSU never contacted his agent.... Les Miles was calling Alleva to find out his status up until the aTm game... Alleva never returned Les Miles calls....so, Les Miles called LSU's bluff and told the media that it would be his last game coaching at LSU to apply pressure..... LSU board of Supervisors were on the phone with Alleva before and during the game discussing to keep Les Miles as coach.... They didn't want to lose out on either Miles Or Jimbo Fisher as their coach... Jimbo fisher was the ONLY coach the Board wanted.... There was NEVER ANY discussion about money with Fisher..it never went any further than that.....

Quoted to prove your incredible stupidity beyond a reasonable doubt. Your hate has turned you into a moron (giving the benefit of the doubt that it has not always been that way).

I am just sharing my take, it's ok if people disagree.

Alleva was silent for weeks while Miles took a blood bath in the media "are you being fired, is this your last game in TS?"

If the AD supports you, he comes out and puts that crap to bed, right?

Do you concede that much at least? (That's not being helpful if you intend to help your coach succeed)

Did you see the Alleva post game conference? "he was not a happy camper"

We have a court battle going over Chavis Contract...

Last year, Chavis leaving left Miles sitting there with no plan...

Then Alleva puts a restriction of hiring the new DC...2 year versus 3 plus the Miles clause...

No, we settled for Steele... now that Miles has some leverage after Jimbogate, he is using it to get "his guy".

All the successful coaches today, get whatever the heck they want or feel they need. The AD is eager to be a yes man.. Alleva is working with an attitude " You have plenty already"

Alleva is/was battling Miles in part because so many boosters and TAF members are pressuring Alleva to do something about Miles, but for now Miles has another day to shine only because the Jimbo deal didn't happen.

If he loose 3 games this year, he will be gone probably on his own accord.

Tom Herman will be one of the top candidates...

I am on record as being one that wanted Jimbo badly because I feel the program is stale and needs some serious change to move forward.

If Miles can change and we can enjoy big victories, then I am all for Miles. I love Miles, I just hate his stubborn offense
