The portal popularity is due to the NIL monies available. Pay to play!!!!

I kind of enjoy the shite show. Actually feel like fans can impact a program if a fan is willing to contribute instead of just complain.

The money was never the problem, always been there. We are just seeing a market correction right now. Coaches will make less..or "voluntarily" give a large amount to these NIL collectives...then schools will stop with these over the top facility/weight room/locker room upgrades, players would rather have that money in their pockets...now the transfer portal rules need to be revamped
This isn’t how it works. Coaches can’t donate to NIL. Universities can’t give to NIL. Coach Kelly isn’t donating to NIL. He is matching up to $1M to TAF (not NIL) based off donations to Bayou Traditions (NIL collective).

Still the same pool of money essentially ...for the same end game

Its not the same pool of money, but it’s a way to leverage NIL to help build the program facilities, which will positively impact recruiting and make LSUs offer possibly appeal more to a recruit or transfer.
It’s more of a downstream business play.
TAF is the value add to the NIL deal, which to your end game point is correct, but programs aren’t going to stop investing in their facilities and everything that comes with signing with a program.

I’m actually surprised there has been no discussion about how much the elite universities are about to benefit from NIL.
Probably because the monetary benefits are indirect.

Disagree. While I hate the portal, the NIL money is worse. An open portal without cash inducements encouraging players to jump in would be manageable.
So you don't think the guys driving a BILLION dollar industry should get paid... you were probably also bithcing about them living early for the draft.
Guys are jumping into the portal just to do it cause why not... no cost and you can play instantly. Look at TJ Finley... kid is onto his what..5th school? Is he even gonna leave w a degree?
I think we can pay players, and restrict the portal at least enough to make it not a free for all.
Only exception to me should be if a coach leaves... you're coach leaves you for more money..frick it.. do the same.
